Mother Anna’s story began in the hills of Southern Italy, where our matriarch learned the sacred art of cooking from her grandmother. These cherished recipes, passed down through generations, form the heart of our menu today.
When Mother Anna immigrated to America, she brought with her not just recipes, but a philosophy: that food is love made visible, and every meal should bring people together like family.
Stalwart for Italian comfort food since 1932, with a mirrored interior & patio skyline views.

Mother Anna’s has the makings of a cozy neighborhood spot but the experience doesn’t quite come together on this visit. The food is decent — familiar comfort dishes that satisfy without particularly impressing — and the atmosphere has a casual, unpretentious feel that works for a local restaurant. The service was the biggest letdown, feeling inattentive and slow in a way that affected the overall enjoyment of the meal. With more care and warmth from the front-of-house, this place could live up to the homey promise of its name much better.

Chef Mike is the reason Mother Anna’s works so well. It brings to Medfield the spirit of the North End. He takes a nearly century old Boston Italian legacy and elevates it.
Portions are generous, the wait staff is excellent, and the bar scene is inviting. Drinks are well poured, prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere works.
Highly recommended…

This place is great! I have never been to the Mother Annas in downtown Boston, so it was a real treat to have access to authentic Italian food that I would normally have to travel to the north end to experience. My girlfriend ordered the Eggplant rollatini which she says was excellent, and it certainly smelled amazing to me! My selection was truly something extraordinary. Soon after I informed our server of my dairy allergy and the grilled chicken plate that I was planning on ordering, the Chef/Co-Owner actually came out to our table (it was a slow night) and chatted with me about an idea he had that involved grilled chicken and a balsamic sauce. I told him that sounded great, and the result was nothing short of extraordinary. After having a few bites of the tender, expertly grilled and sauced chicken, I announced to my girlfriend that “This is a Balsamic Masterpiece” and also delivered that same sentiment directly to the chef. It was this perfectly tart, garlicy, bright balsamic reduction coating these lovely, juicy nuggets of chicken that I just could not get enough of. The side salad, pasta side and Marinara sauce were also equally fresh and delicious. The Chef and Staff could not be any more accommodating and I experienced a delightful dining experience overall. Fresh ingredients and careful attention to detail are clearly at play here. I’m looking forward to my next meal and Mother Annas!

You cant beat the steaks here as they are as good as Capital Grille with a better price point. The veal and shrimp fra diavlo is to die for. We sit at the bar and Joe takes great care of us. The owners come out to ensure our food was prepared to our liking. I love the meatball app and highly endorse the grilled chicked salad for a lighter choice.
The vibe is very casual with a great family ambiance as well.

We ordered catering, and this was the best chicken parm I’ve had in a decade. The sauce is spot on, and the chicken was tender and juicy. We ordered it for a large family gathering and we’re very picky about our sauce, but this really hit the mark. Worth the trip. Highly recommend!

We dined here on New Year’s Eve and overall had a very good experience. The service was excellent and attentive, and the food was the highlight of the evening. We started with the meatball pot, which was excellent, and for entrées had the tortellini Alfredo with chicken and the shrimp scampi—both were flavorful, well-prepared, and truly enjoyable.
The bread served at the table was average at best, and unfortunately they ran out of the beer I ordered (Maine Lunch IPA) after my first drink due to the keg being empty. While not a major issue, it was a bit disappointing.
The biggest drawback, however, was the table spacing. The tables were extremely close together, and it felt like additional tables had been added to accommodate the New Year’s Eve crowd. This noticeably impacted the overall mood and comfort of our dinner.
That said, the quality of the food alone will absolutely bring us back. We would simply avoid booking the restaurant for special events like New Year’s Eve in the future. On a regular night, it’s a great place for an excellent meal.

This was our third visit to Mother Anna’s. I’ve ordered the same meal each time. The Veal Roberto is worth the drive every time. The wine selection is also worth exploring. The seating in the bar area can be hit or miss. Some of the tables are directly below a very large, and bright TV. Don’t ever let them seat you there. Otherwise, well worth trying this North End transplant.

We had four meals and we all enjoyed them. Big portions and reasonable prices. Large menu. Gnocchi Juliana was great, eggplant Parm was good with lots of sauce, char-broiled chicken was very tasty with lots of garlic, and tortellini Alfredo. Salad was good also. Only complaint is that we requested a third basket of bread and were told they ran out of bread!?! Then the people that sat down next to us were given a basket of bread. If there is a limit of two, just tell us!

I had a wonderful lunch here with delicious dishes and attractive city view. The weather was also so beautiful so that we ordered many drinks to enjoy the outdoor atmosphere of the spring. I love the sangria and the sunset cocktail. The lobster ravioli was a bid different with the one on the website but still ok. I also love the Veal Roberto and the Seafood pasta. Everything was so perfect that day so I definitely recommend this place.

Ate in Medfield shop last night and was shocked by 2 Dishes that we ordered that are very traditional Italian foods that they changed so substantially – Clearly to reduce cost. One was the pasta Bolognese, I added a picture. It was discusting. It was a red sauce and every now and then there was some pieces of ground – really ground meat. When I asked a waiter about it, he commented well yeah it’s really just meat sauce – Imagine an Italian restaurant lightening meat sauce to Bolognese!!!! Then my husband ordered veal scallopini in marsala. We almost died to find out that the veal had been cut in strips and more tough because they were strips! It was like a Chinese dinner.
When we raised our concerns to the staff, they did nothing for us and offered us no discount – Just look at these pictures!!!!
