It was an amazing dinner if your dream meal is a full pound of pasta cooked until it literally gives up. The upside is you barely have to chew. Zero flavor, which really helps if you’re trying to keep your taste buds from working too hard.

They tossed in six shrimp. Shocking twist, they weren’t overcooked. The bowl came with a hearty bath of garlic-scented pasta water at the bottom. Great for dipping bread so you don’t leave starving.

Then there were the slices of ham lunch meat. Very cafeteria chic. All this for the low price of $36, plus $5 for bread. The wine was fine.

In the end, super generous portions, incredibly easy to digest, and a nice view. If you’re not expecting flavor or joy, you’ll love it.

This is THE place to go in Coupeville for mussels (and other great food.)

We arrived just after they opened on a blustery Tuesday in December and we’rent even the first people there. And within a half hour the place was packed with mostly locals.

We were very happy with the craft beer list as well as the huge selection of mussels dishes.

We started with a cup of clam chowder and an order of pretzel sticks, both of which were excellent.

For main dishes, we order the white wine mussels and the Jamaican spice mussels. Both were new dishes for us and both far exceeded our expectations.

For dessert we had cheese cake and THE BEST fruit cobbler we’ve ever had. It was simply amazing and we’ll likely order it in advance next time just to make sure they don’t run out before the end of our meal.

But best of all, Jayden was a phenomenal server. I cannot remember the last time we had a server who was so natural. She was warm, welcoming, helpful, and friendly without ever interrupting us or making us feeling like we were being watched. She anticipated our needs and was positive and pleasant to visit with. She stayed at our table and visited as long as we wanted her to without ever seeming rushed (even though the place was packed) but never lingered, and was very natural when making her departures. We have dined at a lot of restaurants, from mom and pop down home diners all the way up to three star Michelin restaurants and cannot remember ever having a server as good as Jayden. I would say that she should running a business teaching servers how to do what she does but who she is and how she handles herself cannot be taught. She is simply a natural and we hope she is valued by her employer as much as we valued her as our server. I always say that service is more important than anything else and will return to a restaurant with mediocre food but great service before returning to a restaurant with excellent food but mediocre service. Front Street Grill has both excellent food AND a phenomenal server in Jayden.

It was my wife’s birthday but we completely forgot to even mention this to Jayden because she made us all feel like a million bucks from the first moment we sat down. (When she asked my mother if she prefer lemon or lime in her soda water and my mother answered that either was fine, she brought both. It’s the little things like that that really makes a server stand out. She also recommended the berry cobbler…and we will forever be indebted to her for that. My wife said it was the best birthday ZERT she’s ever had.)

We have been to Front Street Grill before and were looking forward to revisiting again this time, and are so glad we did. We will definitely be back the next time we have a hankering for great local mussels and are looking to be served like we are family.

Cozy little restaurant on the water. Great views, ambiance, service, and food. My husband and I ordered the crab artichoke dip, wagyu steak, and spicy seafood pasta. The wagyu was our favorite! Seasoned and cooked to perfection. Like butter! The pasta was FULL of seafood, and VERY flavorful! They do not skimp on the good stuff here. The garlic toast is the best I’ve had. Would probably be here every week if we lived in the area.

We decided to head south from Deception Pass after a hike and found ourselves in Coupeville just in time for a late lunch. The Front Street Grill looked busy and since that is a good sign in a restaurant, we stopped in. We sat at the bar and had good friendly service from the bartender. Since Penn Cove mussels are famous, that is what we had. They were great. The portions are generous and there are several preparations available. We will certainly be back!

Hearty, well sized portions. Beer list featuring many local options. Mussels are excellent and highly recommend as an starter. Views of the bay. Parking on the main street is limited but parking lots near by. Good first stop after visiting several bays and hikes. Decent ice cream and chocolate shop across the street.

We went here on Saturday for dinner during the summer time. Street parking was packed, had to go around a few times to find one close. There’s a free parking lot in a park nearby with plenty of spots if you don’t mind a short walk.

Reservation definitely recommended. We had to wait about an hour for a space, but it was worth it. You can leave your number and they will call you when your table is ready!

So we ordered a few things here. Spicy seafood pasta was good, the drinks were good, I like the mussels, but I would try a different flavor/cook style next time. Kids Mac and cheese and clams was good. I like their portion sizes for all these dishes. We also tried a dessert, it was banana foster pie (I didn’t take a picture of it), and it was good as well. Overall all their seafood quality was fresh and tasted great. The ambiance, atmosphere, and service was really nice as well.

I would recommend this place if you are doing a trip to this area and like to eat fresh seafood. Worth a trip if you are already on this side of the water.

As a local Whidbey islander, Front Street Grill is one of my favorite go to spots. Today my boyfriend and I ordered the white wine mussels and the clams. They were both very delicious. Highly recommend both! Also our waitress was very kind and personable.

The Front Street Grill came highly recommended and did not disappoint. Our server Jayden was on point with service and recommendations. We were so glad we tried the coconut green curry mussels. Something we may have missed if not for her mention. Delicious. Gorgeous waterfront view. We will certainly return.

What a lovely location. We were seated with a view of the water. Our waitress Taylor was absolutely wonderful and attentive. We ordered the sea bass, mussels, Whidbey salad, and sweet potato. Try the spicy pickle cocktail if you dare.
