Stopped in with the family while on a trip to the Guadalupe Mountain National Park to watch the Texans game v the Chargers. Son and I both had burgers which were great. Daughter had the Blue Burger which she really enjoyed. Wife had sides including the grits which she loved. Service was good, refills were timely. Looks also had the churros and ice cream for dessert which they enjoyed.

Visiting from Lubbock and stopped in for lunch right at noon. Ambiance is standard small town vibes. Nothing fancy. Menu was enticing for certain dishes, prices were high for this area. Ordered the tenderloin tips and the jerk chicken. Flavour for each was okay, it ate. The tenderloin tips is essentially a deconstructed Philly cheese steak sandwich minus the bread. The mashed potatoes are most likely boxed, they tasted very strange. Coleslaw has no flavor and wasn’t wet like it usually is. Just cabbage in a cup. Felt like I had to finish whatever I could of my plate because I usually never struggle to finish a plate. Just basic etiquette to clean your plate but I couldn’t. The only thing I enjoyed was the music which wasn’t loud or obnoxious, just nice simple country, and our server Courtney- who was super friendly, smiling and nice. Maybe I’m just used to food that has flavour and isn’t just put on a plate hoping someone’s going to pay $25 dollars for it.

After climbing Mt. Guadeloupe, we found the Lucky Bull on our way home- we have a tradition of finding a local burger spot each time we highpoint in a new state. While we have had a variety of burgers across the United States, the service and honest good quality at stellar prices blew our minds. It was busy when we arrived and it took a second to get to our table but once seated the restaurant moved like a well oiled machine. Every level exceeded expectations. 10 out of 10 on food, service and of course the friendly welcoming environment. If youre passing through give the Lucky Bull a stop, its worth it!

Stopped to eat after visiting Carlsbad Caverns on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Our server was Jasmine and she was a delight and very attentive. The place was not busy at all, although that’s probably due to the holidays. However, where there was a lack of patronage, there was most certainly not a lack in the quality of food. We ordered the kids corn dog, chicken fried steak, the notorious pig, the big blue and the classic burger. Everything came out hot and flavorful. The fries and onion rings were fresh. 10/10 recommend this place if ever in the area. We unfortunately didn’t get pictures as we devoured our food before I got a chance to snap em.

Best place in Carlsbad to eat a good dinner!! We came in from a roadtrip and was wanting something different than mexican(though I love Mexican food). The service was top notch, great atmosphere and food was incredible.
Can’t say I’ll be in this area anytime again soon but do yourself a favor and eat here!

GET THE SHRIMP AND GRITS . Lucky Bowl Grill is exactly what you expect to get when heading into rural Western US towns. It’s a bit of a mixed bag on clientele and what not. The place is rustic, solid bar drinks from bartender J…. The star of the show is clearly the Green hatch chili. The whole area–the state is known for it. I had the shrimp and grits and it was absolutely ridiculously overwhelming in goodness and scope. There were 10 shrimp on it. With a huge amount of perfectly made cooked grits. The wife had the steak tips and enjoyed those, my son had the fish and chips and also enjoyed that. Beforehand as an appetizer we had the dirty chips which are highly recommended by many, but also a cup of chili with an egg in it. Never even heard of that before but it was spot on delicious. All that to say the staff are somewhat friendly, as much as one would expect, and the food is the star. The place itself kind of looks like the inside of a Chipotle chain. I’ll definitely hit them again next time I’m in town.

Best burger I’ve had in a long time…maybe ever. I got the Lucky Bull Burger which was 2 patties, cheddar and green hatch chilies. Burger was amazing with a nice crust, maybe a hair over medium, but still well cooked. The fries were coated and seasoned and I didn’t need ketchup which is really unheard of. We went about 7 on a Saturday night and got a table right away and pretty good service. The Santa Fe 7K IPA was great also.

Ordered The Lucky Bull Hamburger & all the outside bites just tasted like burned bacon & hamburger. Once I got some bites towards the middle, it tasted fine. I also ordered The Dirty Chips, & those were 10/10 fantastic. A big thank you to the waitress that recommended them! It was great. It did take a long time to order & a long time to get anything we requested like refills & condiments.
