Frostop is Baton Rouge tradition since the 1959’s. Icy cold root beer still made onsite. Come see the giant mug sign. Burgers and Poboy’s are made to order from fresh ingredients. Ice cream float, shake and malt are special with our homemade root beer.
Old-school diner prepping burgers, hot dogs, po’ boys & seafood platters, plus housemade root beer.

I went to a place down the street that turned out to be a bar and I was completely ignored so I walked out. I’m glad that I did. I got back on Google Maps and found the Frostop. Having never been here before I thought I’d give them a try. What an awesome little burger joint. It seems that they have a following and this place reminds me so much of my old haunt Chuck’s Dairy Bar in Rolling Fork, Mississippi. This place has been in business coming up on 73 years. I’t would be the coolest to see a time lapse of all the change that has occurred during that time. And the Whole Lot Burger combo is where it’s at. Jules Winnfield would agree that it is one tasty buger! Add a side of fried okra.

Burger, fry, and a drink combo is their specialty. The restaurant has been in the same location since I was a child and the Root Beer is still very good with a hint of honey to it. A definite reminder of how burger stops use to be back in the day. Inside is pretty run down, but still worth stopping in once in a while for a walk down nostalgia lane.

Please check your order before you leave. I Ordered “fish platter” for lunch, and this is what I got.
This is not cooked. I bit into the fish, and gagged. French fries were old and tasted like “old grease”. Didn’t have time to go back. $14 wasted.
I also called to voice my opinion, and the owner decided that a verbal confrontation with me (the customer) was better than apologizing and trying to correct the problem.
No worries, I won’t be returning, and definitely will be sharing my experience with anyone thats in ear shot or will listen

Solid 4. Good tasty okra and hamburger. Dining in is a tragic decay of restaurant space. Shoes stick to the floor, decaying space. Workers are pleasant.

Cheaper, better, tastier, faster than McDonalds down the street. Staple of BTR and still serving great poboys and hamburger. I absolutely love not everything is wrapped in plastic please never change that. Paper bag,all that is perfect.

The food was incredible. We had the crab burger and While lot burger and will have them again. The root float and chocolate malt were just like my mom makes. But the wait staff made the visit. They were incredibly polite, cheerful and very helpful. Highly recommend for a low key enjoyable meal!

The food was pretty decent. Basic menu, but tasted fresh. Rootbeer was more fresh that I preferred, but my 6 year old loved it! The facility, while old, old… looked clean as they could keep it. What made it almost unbearable was the heat. It was a good 78 degrees inside, if not more warm (in the middle of the summer).

The Frostop Restaurant has been at this location as long as I can remember and accept for some wear and tear, has really not changed. The menu is limited, burgers, fries, ice cream floats and such. The food is tasty and the staff are friendly. Nothing fancy just a nostalgic eating spot that is really good.
