I have stopped in here twice now while visiting Maggie Valley. Do not walk RUN here for the fried chicken! They have the most tasty, delicious fried chicken I have had the pleasure of dining on in my 57 years on this earth!
The staff has always been quick and friendly, food to table is quick and hot. The abundance of a choice of sides will please all. And the atmosphere is covered with Southern Hospitality and an uplifiting decor!
You will find an old newspaper post on the wall, I suggest it to be read and you will understand this restraunts roots and its on going commitment to Maggie Valley.
Again…..do not walk, RUN to this establishment. My next time down I must try the beef menu.

This is a diner like atmosphere with good food and service. Cassie took care of our order and kept our drinks refilled. I had the turkey special with all the fixings and my husband had the fried chicken. Very hearty portions and tasty. Feel this was a good value for the price.

I had got the Maggie burger, fries, and Mac and cheese. the burger okay but the mayo tastes weird. Fries are from a cardboard box and are very plain (had to load down with salt). Mac and cheese is kraft Mac and cheese. Corn bread was about the only thing good. Cabbage is not good either. Silverware we had to share. Waiting time was abit aggravating. If you want fried chicken you have to buy the whole half a chicken for $24. the cost of everything was not worth it.

First time visiting Maggie Valley from Charlotte. Was looking for a late breakfast place and stumbled upon this restaurant. Had a brief wait since they were busy but the staff was very friendly regardless. Great portions for breakfast for lunch as an option and the price was very reasonable for the whole meal I ordered. Definitely will come back !

Food was terrible. Fries were terrible and cold. Hamburger steak was tough and bland. That fried chicken is HORRIBLE. Burnt lard is unpleasant. The flounder was also greasy. The chicken was chewy, greasy and not done. It was 78 dollars for 3 people to drive 30 minutes to get a decent meal . It’s dirty, the staff is unfriendly and I am sorry, but you should dress appropriately if you’re a server during lunch, you should not be wearing a dress that looked like slip. The drinks flat, and the staff is rude, and the food is HORRENDOUS. Go anywhere else!!!! Roadkill is more appealing after the night I had in the bathroom.

Best meal we’ve had this trip! Great friendly service, cozy atmosphere. When your waitress brings you a carafe of coffee and a carafe of hot water for tea, that’s a good service right there. You know the food is going to be good when the locals are standing in wait to get a table! Glad we got here early!
Want a great breakfast (anything btw) come here! Good value too!

Stopped for dinner at 5. Stood waiting to be seated for 7 minutes with 4 tables with people, the rest were empty. Food was somewhat ok. Husband ordered trout, I ordered catfish fillets, mine could’ve been cooked a bit longer. We both ordered sweet tea at seven bucks for two. We drank our tea and were never offered more. As we were leaving we asked for 2 sweet tea to go. They brought it, but it wasn’t sweet. We asked them to change it. Waitress came back and told us we would not like their sweet tea. We told her we had ordered and drank sweet tea. She said she had tasted the tea in our to-go cups! and it was sweet. She did not offer to replace it with water or soda, just dismissed us. Our meal was over fifty for 2 people before tip.
There were 2 ladies at a table beside us who were served burned fried chicken and cold vegetables, their words, not mine. Waitress took their food away, returned a little later with 2 plates of chicken tenders, no vegetables and no silverware. They still had not been given either when we left. They were just sitting there waiting, dumbstruck, by the lack of service. Needless to say. We won’t go back. Consider yourselves forewarned.

Some attention to detail could certainly improve this restaurant. Ive always wanted to stop here so i was a little disappointed.
My omelette was tasty however i ordered a simple ham and cheese omelette that was listed on the menu, but received one loaded with tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms and onion. It was very tasty but not what i was in the mood for. The apple sauce i ordered as a side was very good and fresh.
Sister had a flounder sandwich which she said she enjoyed but “too much bread”.
Anyways, it was January 11th and there was still a full on Christmas tree in the place. Along with plastic snowflakes that banged on the window when the wind was blowing. Oddly there was a defunct printer or fax machine in the dining room for everyone to look at… that was probably the strangest thing ive ever seen.
The coffee was pretty bad, tasted like the plastic inside the carafe was melting into it.
My omelette was tasty as i said and i would not be opposed to going back. My hope is that this can all get tidied up and the place can be successful. I doubt the restaurant will last much longer with these issues. Also the server who was taking care of us was allowing sparkly “Victoria Secret” bra straps to show from under her dress which is a little odd while you’re ordering an omelette…
Also something wrong with the music playlist… heard the same depressing Whitesnake song twice in the 30 min we were there…..
Place just needs some good attention to detail.

I was really shocked that this place has good reviews. Truly. It is displayed that this restaurant belongs to the Carver family. And once, that may have been so. As a young man I took my family there and the service was excellent. The food was tasty. The wait staff responded and met our needs. As an older adult, I have tried eating there twice in the last four months. In both instances, the restaurant was understaffed. The first occasion there were two waitresses trying to run the front of house- seating, waiting, and receiving payment at the register. Most tables were needing to be bussed, but they did not have time. I waited ten minutes to place my order, but I could see that the staff was busy. I understood and I waited. And then they were not. And I was still waiting. Pro tip here- when you walk into the restaurant, do not be seated at the first booth on the right. The air vent underneath turns you into a snow man. Last night, it never came on while I was there. The food was adequate- comparable to Ingles deli. Last night I returned and same scenario, but there was only one server and the tables were either unbussed or occupied. One person trying to run the whole front of house. One person waiting on ten tables. Once more, I waited a long time. I watched. There was noise coming from the kitchen- the sound of children. From my seat, I could see the back area and there was a eight year old running around in the kitchen. Another lady appeared to work there, but she has on “going out” clothing, and she went back from the register to the kitchen a few times. I have no idea what she was doing. Finally, fed up, I left. I understand that for many of us, these places have a feel of nostalgia. It is where we came for vacation and when we go back, it is with the hopes of seeing those past days, one more time. I felt like the restaurant was like the old barn you see standing on Socco coming into the valley. Yes, it is still standing. There is nothing inside but dust and old memories. The spirit of this restaurant has not survived to this generation of owners, who, in all likelyhood, do not live in the valley any longer.

Me and daughter went to the restaurant while being on a mini vacation. I went because I heard the fried chicken was very good. When we got there, we had to wait to be seated, which was completely fine, but no one acknowledged we were standing there for several minutes. We almost left as did another couple. Once we finally got seated, the server was friendly, but we weren’t given silverware until a couple minutes after our food arrived at the table. She also forgot to refill my daughter’s drink. Now, I will say, the chicken was VERY good, but, it was 25.00 for a chicken plate and 2 veggies. You do get a half of a chicken, but they do not offer a smaller portion for a smaller price. So I guess to sum it up, the food was excellent but pricey and the service was just ok.
