I went here for dinner today on MLK Day, as part of my solo trip celebrating my recent surgery recovery.
The food and service were every bit as great as I’d hoped, and the decor was absolutely stunning. If I had unlimited funds, I’d happily pay any price for whoever decorated this restaurant to do something similar with my house.
That being said, the decor does not overshadow the food and beverage. I had the veggie combo, tej, and Amina cocktail. The veggie combo was hearty while being very light on oil—a welcome departure from yesterday’s meat heavy hedonistic foodventure. The collard greens and beets are the stars of this platter.
I have eaten a lot of Ethiopian food in various cities over the years, but this was my first time trying tej. I found it to be much smoother than mead. And the Amina cocktail was my “dessert”. I was over the moon to find it garnished with a nasturtium flower because I LOVE to eat them! Next time, I’ll ask for more nasturtiums on the side; I’ll happily pay extra if required.
I’m looking forward to many more visits!

Being a local and this being my first time at this restaurant, I’d have to say it was pretty good. They was low staffed but Prince tried to accommodate that with smiles and good food. Though it wasn’t the best jollof I’ve ever had, the whole snapper was absolutely delicious! I really wanted to have the egusi but they only do fufu on mondays so I’ll definitely be back for that!

From the moment you step into Addis Nola, you know you’re in for more than just a meal you’re entering an experience. The staff greets you with genuine warmth, as if you’ve been welcomed into a family home. That’s the prologue, the unspoken promise that what’s about to follow is going to be good down-home good. And though I’m not Ethiopian, I felt right at home. We were oriented to the restaurant where to wash our hands and the restaurant and review the menu.

We started with the Hibiscus Pineapple Mocktails non-alcoholic, vibrant, and layered with flavors that kept us guessing. I sipped, paused, then sipped again, trying to pinpoint the delicious tickle on my tongue. My husband joined in, and together we played culinary detectives, but neither of us could place it. Finally, curiosity won and we asked our server, who was exceptional throughout the evening. With his easy Louisiana drawl, he revealed the secret: cinnamon. I was shocked, because cinnamon is not usually a favorite of mine yet here it was, transforming the drink into something utterly refreshing and addictive.

The Addis Salad was simplicity at its best fresh, crisp, and balanced with a light vinaigrette. Then came the Awaze Chicken Wings, seasoned just right, with sauce on the side for my husband. I, on the other hand, went all in. Dip after dip, each bite was a burst of slightly sweet with spice and flavor that demanded another.

The undeniable highlight was the Whole Fried Red Snapper. I’ve never had anything quite like it. The fish was fried to crispy perfection, its skin crackling with every bite while the inside remained tender and flaky. The seasoning mysterious, aromatic, perfectly balanced permeated every layer. And let me not forget the kosher salt fried right into the skin. Crispy. Crunchy. Perfectly salted. If food could make you hum, this was it.

After indulging, we lingered to chat with our server, who shared the story of Addis Nola and its family roots. That impromptu history lesson deepened the experience suddenly the food wasn’t just delicious, it was personal. We even took photos together, and before leaving, my husband purchased an Addis House hat to take a piece of the evening home with us.

Addis Nola isn’t just about Ethiopian cuisine it’s about connection, culture, and comfort. The food was incredible, yes, but what lingered long after was the warmth of the people and the joy of the experience. We left full, smiling, and already planning our return.

Rating: 5/5 – A must-visit for anyone who wants more than a meal, but a memory.

I was very excited to be here and try the food. Everyone was nice and informative. This place is a vibe. I got the vegetarian family meal and it was more than enough for 2.
The hot tea is delicious with ginger, honey, cinnamon and cardamom. I would definitely come back.

This was one of the most unique and flavorful restaurant experiences I’ve have during a trip to New Orleans. The atmosphere feels luxurious yet relaxing and laid back at the same time. We were greeted by the friendly staff who made sure our cups were always filled. If you ever wanted to try Ethiopian food, you must try this place. We ordered several dishes and ate family style. I would suggest you ask for recommendations.

Everything was excellent! I highly recommend

Loved this place! The food was delicious! Plenty of vegetarian options. Nice bar with an unusual take on well known cocktails. The staff is super friendly and the ambiance is charming. This would be a perfect place for a friends’ get together as well as a date night. We really enjoyed Addis Nola!

It has been a WHILE since I’ve had such a perspective shifting culinary experience. First and foremost, great ambiance. The inside was very comfortable, it had nice warm lighting and Ethiopian art and furniture all around. The 70s R&B and soul playing created a very welcoming vibe to the ordeal and our waiter Blaze was very knowledgeable and extremely attentive.
Now for what you really care about, the food. There is not a single menu item I could improve if I tried. For appetizers, the Awaze Chicken Wings were fantastic, the glaze was flavorful and subtly sweet in a way that heavily complimented the smoky flavor of the chicken itself. The Egusi Empanadas are one of the most flavorful things I’ve tried in my entire life. The melty flavor of the egusi was a perfect contrast to the fried shell it was in, and the mint sauce (think of what you get with a pakora appetizer at an Indian restaurant) tied it all together. The Lamb Wot entree was a spiritual experience for me. Slow roasted for twenty hours in what’s essentially an onion stew, the remarkably tender lamb is flavorful all the way through and a perfect pairing with the subtly spiced rice it’s served with. I do not mean this lightly when I say that this restaurant as a 10/10, from the food to the service to the ambiance, everything about this meal was as perfect as you could ask for.

As someone brand new to Ethiopian cuisine, I was blown away with our positive experience. Our server was very warm and welcoming and gave us a full picture of what the menu entailed. He even took care of us and brought out a perfect kids plate for our two year old that he loved. I greatly appreciated that!!!!! It was exciting trying all the different dishes on the veggie plate and everything was 10/10. Even the left overs we brought home I savored the next day for lunch. Highly recommend.
