Looking for the best pizza, and calzones near Texas Tech? One Guy from Italy on University has been a Lubbock favorite since the 1980’s. Serving fresh, handmade pizza, calzones, and salads right in the heart of Raiderland. Locally owned and operated, we use quality ingredients and heart-healthy olive oil instead of soybean oil for a better-tasting, better-for-you meal. Whether you’re dining in, grabbing takeout, you’ll enjoy authentic pizzeria experience that’s been a college tradition for decades. Great food. Local flavor. True Lubbock pride.
Big calzones are the star at this stalwart, family-run pizzeria that also offers pies & pastas.

It’s giving Cici’s pizza and pasta I’ll be so honest. There was one day I came and pizza was super fresh and good. Other than that today pizza was soggy in the center and top but crush was hard as hell. We got shrimp scampi and I know what microwaved noodles look and taste like. Not worth the 15 minute wait for pasta with barely any sauce and no flavor. Where’s the passion for food? Do people just eat here because it’s a local business? Not trying to be rude just have an f&b background and this really isn’t it. Whoever is making the food doesn’t care about it. Customer service was decent. Nothing to write home about.

I just had myself a Matador Wrap with curly fries and it was very good, especially adding a lot of vegetables inside the wrap along with the chicken too.
The one guy from Italy restaurant has some very good Italian food, even know they cross out the prices on the pizzas and many other items for unknown reason and the place needs a little bit clean and patch up or 2, at least the service took their time, when I was thinking about ordering something to try out and eat.
Good location next to the university.

Got the 6 oz boneless wings and all meat calzone. Was just alright imo. Calzone isn’t too bad of a deal for the price. Boneless wings definitely not worth the price though. Walked by here for 4 years as a graduate student and never tried it until the end of my time. Wasn’t missing out on much all those years to say the least. I will say the pizza available by the slice out on the counter looked pretty dry and lifeless, which is why I got the calzone. Maybe their other pizzas when fresh are better?

I came in for a slice and left with a large pie to go. Truly amazing authentic Italian cuisine and it’s obvious when you walk in and the aroma seduces you to the counter. Chef Tony makes each pasta dish individually with care. The pizza is absolute ambrosia and it is definitely because of the “Awesome Sauce,” made from scratch in-house and the hand-stretched dough becomes the perfectly balanced crispy-chewy foundation for each masterpiece.
It does get very busy… like, insanely busy, during the school year. The one guy behind the counter said that after Texas Tech events they have regularly had 3,000 people served in 2 hours. I saw what I thought was a huge beautiful pizza that camel out of the oven and went right into the rubbish bin. He told the dough stretcher it was overcooked, make another one. Quality seems to be a top priority.

I am a semi driver at loves. I ordered pizza to be delivered. I use Google maps to get my address. After my order got picked up by Uber (their delivery service of choice) driver called me complaining I used wrong address. Then the driver cancelled my order and kept my pizza. Couldn’t get a hold of Uber because I didn’t use Uber app. The manager Mooney gave me a refund but still sitting here hungry with no transportation. I don’t want to trust Uber or any delivery apps due to the negligence of the last driver. The manager was Happy to give a refund but that was it. Just a sucks to be you attitude. This is what happens when you don’t hire good managers to go above and beyond their basic job. When I was running a pizza parlor I would go to great links to help my customers because I always treat my job like I own it. Like it is my profits was on the line. Good luck to the owner with staff like that. He wasn’t even willing to contact Uber to correct the issue. It is sad because it looked like great food and was going to order pasta the next day but not now. Truckers move America and can not take our trucks anywhere we want to go. We are limited and now it’s another night of peanut butter sandwiches.

The pizza was good, plenty of cheese. The cheesy garlic bread was quite tasty. Only downside was when we got back to the hotel to eat, they left the dipping sauces out of the order. Didn’t feel like driving back at that point.

Stopped in after watching my wife graduate from Texas Tech and everything was fantastic. This just might be the best pizza I’ve ever eaten! Service was great and they also gave my wife a slice of cheesecake as congratulations. If we weren’t so far away, we would be regulars!

Decided to try this place because of the high ratings. Must be drunk college kids leaving the reviews.
We got the Pepperoni Pizza, Chicken Parm Sandwich and the Garlic Cheese Bread.
The pizza did have plenty of cheese and pepperoni, but the dough was over salted and just not good. The sauce was very bland. The sandwich was dry and the chicken was over cooked. Seemed like precooked breaded CUBED chicken. The Garlic Cheese Bread was bland.
Needless to say, no one ate and we were still hungry.
