Food 15/10. And this is coming from a northern Italian their ravioli are top quality.
Lovely atmosphere too, just a bit too loud at some point but probably due to a table behind us that was being obnoxiously loud!
Overall recommend highly!
Also, the best calamari I’ve ever consumed
Jennifer was absolutely phenomenal. She did not just serve wine, she described it. The Nebbiolo and Barolo were not just items on a list. She brought them to life. She explained the structure, the tannins, the story behind them, and why each would work with what we were eating. There was no hard sell, just real knowledge and real passion. That kind of guidance elevates a meal into something memorable.
One of the managers, previously from Brockwood, brought a calm assurance to the whole evening. Attentive without hovering. Professional without being stiff. You can feel when a place has earned its reputation through years of hard work, and Il Vicolo carries that quiet confidence beautifully.
Every dish was a culinary delight. Generous, layered, deeply Italian in spirit. But what truly sets this place apart is the atmosphere. The comfort of somewhere that has been worked in, refined, and celebrated properly. No gimmicks. No fuss. Just bloody good food, brilliant wine, and people who genuinely care.
An absolute culinary delight from start to finish. We will be back
The food is divine (as it was this time – just a little cold!) and normally the atmosphere is homey, relaxed and well paced this time it missed that mark! We do hope to try again as the staff are lovely and you feel like part of the family!
