I highly recommend going for the lunch special. I spent $16 (before tip) for SO much food. Had no wait for a table when I arrived, and I highly enjoyed the dimmer lighting and calm atmosphere. I ordered the chicken tikka masala which comes with a pot of rice, 4 pieces of naan and dipping sauce. The naan was a little oily, but I do prefer the traditional method without oil. You also get a soup or salad before hand, I got the salad but felt thrown together with random veggies, not my favorite. Everything else was delicious, fluffy seasoned rice and tender chicken! After the meal I received a complimentary fruit pudding dessert which was very good. Service was good nothing outstanding but the lunch price is very much worth visiting for! They have many lunch options and the menu is labeled clearly for dietary restrictions.

We had a wonderful dining experience at this restaurant. We ordered the grilled herb salmon, Kalonji Pudina Chicken, garlic chilli naan, and tomato soup—and every dish was absolutely satisfying. The salmon was perfectly grilled and full of flavor, while the Kalonji Pudina Chicken stood out with its aromatic spices and tenderness. The garlic chilli naan was soft, flavorful, and the tomato soup was warm, comforting, and well-balanced.The ambience of the restaurant is equally impressive—pleasant and perfect for a relaxed meal. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience with great food and a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Went here for the first time. We were seated immediately, the staff was very friendly also took quite a bit of time talking to one of the members in our party that had never eaten Indian food explaining the different dishes. He also explained to me the spice level very clearly. I asked for the Goat Curry, spice level 5. It was quite nice. I ended up eating way too much and left very full and happy. Reasonably priced, nice atmosphere I will definitely be back.

Anokha Restaurant in Richmond, Virginia, is a must-try! This hidden gem serves authentic Indian cuisine with amazing flavors and generous portions. The atmosphere is cozy and modern, with friendly staff who’ll make you feel at home. Must-try dishes include the veggie appetizer sampler, chicken patia, and garlic naan – they’re to die for! The lunch specials are a steal, with options starting at $11. Don’t miss out on their delicious mango cheesecake. Whether you’re a spice lover or prefer milder flavors, Anokha has something for everyone. Five stars and a definite recommendation ..

I’m bit late to put my reviews for this amazing place. Between 2014 and 2015 when I was in Richmond on my official tour. The guys at my hotel recommended me this restaurant, and on my first weekend I went there and truly the food relished my taste buds and I became the regular customer of this beautiful restaurant.
The atmosphere was pleasant with really good food and service. It is clean and very well set up and decorated. A must visit restaurant for north indian food…

Easily one of the worst Indian restaurants I have ever been to. I do not think the chef knows how to prepare Indian food. The two curries we ordered had WHOLE peppercorns in them. We ordered medium hot and it was inedible without any flavor. Any competent Indian restaurant would never serve whole peppercorns and whole cloves in their curries. I’m attaching pictures of the peppercorns and cloves in about 1/3 of our left over. You can imagine how many were there in the whole dish.

A very average Indian place.

The only interesting thing is the bread and chutney at start. This is not at all a usual combo and also the combo did not go well, at least for me

The chai was bit distasteful and the appetisers felt refried couple of times

Also ordered chicken tikka but the curry did not have any taste of spices.

Overall, ok to try once if it suits your tongue

This place never disappoints! It is clean and very well set up and decorated. The ambiance is to die for! The food comes out quick and hot! I ordered the seafood Goan curry and loved every bite of it. The mango mojito is thirst quenching and just right!
