my fiance and i were the only hispanic people here and as soon as the food came out i knew why. i ordered the shrimp tacos and each taco had about 4 tiny shrimp that were boiled (?) with some seasoning on top. i only ate the shrimp and picked at the rice. everything was nasty, even the iced tea that i ordered. please note that i am not bashing the kitchen staff, i am sure they know how to cook but the recipes are the issue. you cannot put two colored tortilla chips on my plate and call it mexican food… where is the flavor….

I love the atmosphere. The large open areas and doors make the inside feel like the outside. The great natural light adds to the ambiance.
The food was on point. All the flavors were there, and the portions were nice as well. I especially love the complimentary chips and salsa; it’s endless. They will keep bringing them out if you ask for more.
The service is excellent. From ordering to clearing the table, they are super polite, easy to talk to, and share some great jokes.
It’s a very inviting place.

Yummy drinks and food!! Staff is very nice and very attentive! Great hangout! It’s a little pricey, but well worth it!! Loved the unlimited yummy chips and salsa brought out while waiting to be served! Highly recommend and definitely returning to try more items off the menu!

I really wanted to like this place, but sadly, the food was mediocre. I ordered the chili relleno dish, which was just so-so, smaller than what I’d usually get at other Mexican food joints. I liked the re-fried beans, but the rice was a bit salty. Hubby ordered the fried cod burrito that he liked enough. I was craving something sweet after the underwhelming entree, so we settled on the churro teepee. When it was delivered, it was missing whipped cream. The kitchen apparently had run out. The churros weren’t crispy nor hot, like they’ve been sitting out. The servers were friendly and apologetic for delays in service. With so many other choices for good Mexican food, I recommend that you explore others in the area unless, of course, food quality comes secondary to the bar and diner ambiance this place offers. One thing that impressed me? The giant skeleton decor they had inside!

Awesome lunch experience! Kristy took care of us and made sure our drinks were always topped off. Food pictured is the quesadilla with chicken, the elote dip, and chicken fajitas.

Excellent place to dine. The prices were very reasonable and you get a lot of food! My favorite is the salad! Awesome service! Great wine selection!

This Mexican-American restaurant does not serve menudo. They do serve abondigas soup. This soup comes in a very shallow bowl and has very finely chopped vegetables, a watery broth and comes with a sour-dough roll (not essential tortillas!) Also, per our server, they didn’t have red Tabasco sauce at this time so we were offered green Tabasco sauce instead. How have I gone to Espiau’s several times a year for over 40 years? Really puzzeled. Really – “a sour-dough roll” and no red Tabasco sauce? However, we did enjoy the chicken fajitas and also the chilaquiles with eggs and potatoes. But please, seriously, loose the sour-dough roll or offer a substitute. There are definitely alternatives for Mexican and Mexican-American dining.

We went in around 120, thinking we would avoid the lunch rush. It took them until 145 to even get our drink order. We were extremely disappointed.
When you sit down they eventually throw chips and salsa on your table.
We ordered the elote dio that came with no chips. The boneless wings were soggy and the taco cups were okay.
It’s an experience we aren’t looking to repeat for sure.
It took over thirty minutes for our food to come out. The restaurant didn’t seem busy, but they do have hiring signs so who really knows.
We were just sad bc of all the places in Claremont we picked here for a nice lunch. The taco cups came out before the elote dip did and that is an appetizer?
Also the elote dip is just corn. It’s not really dip at all ?

Unique experience..it was like dinning in Costco business cold meat storage area. guessing around 60 degrees in the resturant, next time I bring a thermometer, if below 70 Iam leaving. I was shivering .

Chiliqiles too much potatoes. Didn’t offer to refill chips or water, had to request. Bus boy offered better service. Overrated and no plans to return.
