At our Lawrenceville, GA location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

On the night of 03/01/2026, we walked in and ordered takeout and sit and eat in meals. They never delivered my dine in meal to our table, my husband’s dine in order missed one side. For the white fish takeout, they didn’t cook to well done, inside it it’s still very soft and pink. We had to return them right there, the other takeout, salmon smelled bad, we only noticed that when I tried to eat it next night, I thought that’s because the very thick seasoning they put on the salmon, so I ate it and got sick, my stomach felt bad and I had diarrhea, I am still feeling bad now. Other people online said they had food poisoning experience as well after they had this restaurant’s food. So next day, 03/03/2026, we followed online instruction to contact their general manager in the store first, a woman named Daisy claimed she’s the general manager, after explaining to her, we demanded to get refund for the salmon, she not only rejected, but also told us in a smart ass way “If you don’t have anything else to say, I am gonna hung up on you, you have a blessing day.”, then she hung up on us when we were still talking to her. She was very rude. The rest of staff from that night were not friendly either, they made a lot of mistakes, they didn’t say professional service language, they just looked cold, indifferent, unprofessional, and they seemed like customers are their burdens and botherings. Never come back and will tell everybody else never go there for food and services. Ironically, isn’t this what these people working there want?! They definitely looked like they hate customers make them do the job!

I went thru the price thru. So can’t say much, for the atmosphere. I was tired, just wanted my food, and the car in front of me got a little chatty with the girl at the windows. On the slick, I think it was an old man trying to get with the employee. She saw me waiting and moved him along quickly. So not too bad.

I took 4 of my clients here to have dinner. They had a special of $1.99 ads on of shrimp or Hush puppies. The deal stated that if it’s not offer than the customer gets it for free. I made 4 different orders for my special needs clients and had 4 seperate receipt for each other. Once I mentioned it to the cashier he got an attitude and stated what you want? He brought us hush puppies without us stating that was what we wanted. I told him that don’t we get 4 of the deals free being that there were four seperate order for each of the clients? He said NO YOU ONLY GET ONE. I asked to speak to the manager. He went back and came back after 5 mins stating that she’s on the phone. It’s been 40mins and she hasn’t come to hear our complaints. Very displeased with the experience. It was my first time taking them here and will definitely be the last. THE STAFF IS RUDE. The young black cashier guy.

The only reason I gave a 2 star is because my food came fresh other than that I do not recommend the lobster rolls or the bites. The bites smaller than donut holes, and the lobster rolls barely had any fillings. The food doesn’t look like the pictures, and infulencers that “Review” foods are paid and given something totally different than what regualr customers are getting. I paid $17 for two bites of food.

Do not eat at the Captain D’s in Lawrenceville near Hibachi Grill. I came in and ordered 2 piece Catfish with a baked Potato. They completed the order for 3 other People that came in after me before they finally delivered my food. We all ordered the same thing. Catfish plate with two sides. The two Girls stood there doing nothing while the other one went and sat in her Car. The Cook finally came out and handed me my food and said here you go. I said ” What , No butter, No Tarter sauce , No sour cream “? I got two tiny pieces of fish and one smelled terrible and had to be thrown out. I got sick as Hell later that night. That location needs to be shut down and all the Employees fired.

I had a terrible experience at this Captain D’s. The food made me very sick — I ended up with stomach pain and diarrhea shortly after eating here. Clearly, something is wrong with the way they handle or prepare their food. It was not worth the risk to my health. I will never be coming back, and I would not recommend this place to anyone.

If I could give this place a ZERO, I would. I ordered a 10 piece family fish meal on online. The food was ready when I arrived (7:15 PM). The cashier handed me my bags and I left. I got home only to look in my box and had 10 pieces of chicken. I was pissed! I immediately called the store. I was told the regional manager would call me to hear my complaint. I wasn’t asked to bring the food back (it was about 8:30 PM) nor did I get an apology for being given the wrong food. Because my family was hungry, we attempted to eat the food. The green beans were luke warm and bland. It was like the can was opened and the beans were put in a container. The hush puppies, fried okra, and fish were also bland. This was not the experience I was looking for. We threw $32 in the trash. Needless to say, I am still waiting for the manager to contact me. SMH. I won’t be back!

I placed my order at the drive-through and then sat for 10 minutes as the third person in line

The first person at the window was still waiting on food when I walked into the restaurant

Two women who have not been in the front of the restaurant, appeared and asked me if I was the person who honked

I confirmed that yes I had and that I had waited 10 minutes before I made any effort to find out what the problem was

I asked twice how much longer it would be for the food

I got no response

I was told that they would cancel my order and I could go somewhere else

I am certain that this is not what The corporate office would consider good customer treatment

Normally, I just consider the type of people that staff these restaurants and give them a break

The woman I spoke to was almost openly hostile

at 1 o’clock in the afternoon, she was defending the lack of food and the amount of time it was taking to prepare it

Normally like I said, I would let this go but this time it’s not gonna happen

This is the $5.99 fish & fries meal. I opened it up at the drive thru because it felt light and I see why. I asked the cashier Dymond if this was correct and she said yes because the fries had to fit in the side capartment. I ordered a side of green beans because this wouldn’t fill me up which was an additional $3. I’ve worked in the corporate side of the restaurant industry for over a decade so I understand food costs but this was beyond what I would ever expect. I also would never blame the front house staff for how much food is given but Dymond was also unpleasant and didn’t even say hi or thank you during my transaction. I would at least expect good customer but I also didn’t experience this. I will not be returning to Captain D’s in the near future.
