Ambience – very cool building, brick style industrial, cool paintings, old wood. Had reservations, but decided to just sit at the bar as we liked the look.
Service – We were helped right away, but then it slowly got worse. Even there were several people working behind the bar area, we had to flag them down if we wanted anything…they did not keep checking on us.
Food and drink selection – we were given several different menus…food, happy hour, signature drinks, etc. No wine listed, so that was yet another menu we had to ask for. Lots of paperwork, the person next to us had dropped several of their own, since there are so many to look through. A very annoying thing on the food menu was we really couldn’t understand what it is we were looking at. With embellished and overwrought descriptions, we found ourselves doing Google searches to see exactly what was being offered. Things like “Ricotta Agnolotti with dashi burre monte”, “Snapper Zerandeado” made it interesting to say the least!
Food – after figuring out what we would actually get, we ordered the Ricotta Agnolotti and a “Bidi Bidi BimBap” and Crispy Broccoli, all to share between two of us. The serving sizes were not too small or large, perfect size to share with the 3 orders. The Ricotta was good, very rich blue crab sauce. The BimBap was supposed to have “crunspy” rice along the sides, but did not, was not cooked enough to get that crispy rice edge. The Brocolli was actually broccolini, and very bitter…not good.
Drinks – we ordered a couple off their specialty menu, mine had a smoky tequila that overpowered the drink. Didn’t keep track of what it was I ordered, but wouldn’t order that again…whatever it was.
Would I go back…probably not.
Wasn’t bad, but wasn’t great.
Would, I recommend…maybe.
Won’t hurt to try it out, but there are so many good places in Austin, you might want to look around.
Best part Chef Nay went out of her way to mark everything vegan. And no we are not the picky vegans either. So they did it just because they’re nice.
The food itself blew our mind. Chef should be considered for a Michelin star for sure.
Great service 10/10
Special vegan dessert was so good
Unfortunately, the New Year’s Eve prix fixe experience was extremely disappointing. It took over an hour for our table to receive the first course, and several menu items were modified or substituted without any communication. It was also obvious that food was running short, as our table was served noticeably smaller portions than tables around us.
We ended up leaving close to midnight, and given the long delays, it would have been appropriate to at least offer a cocktail or a glass of wine. We purchased a bottle of prosecco as soon as we sat down, and it was nearly empty by the time our first course finally arrived.
There’s a sign near the entrance defining “hangry,” and the irony couldn’t have been more fitting. By that point, our entire section was hungry and frustrated, and the sign unintentionally summed up the experience.
Based on the restaurant’s reputation, we expected a well-executed New Year’s Eve service. Instead, the lack of preparation and communication made this a poor experience overall.
