Stopped here today while driving back toward I-5 on my road trip from Seattle to San Francisco and honestly it turned out to be such a great random stop in Redding. The place was busy with mostly locals (always a good sign), but everything still ran smoothly.
My server Jaggi P really made the experience. He was on top of everything without being pushy,
checking in at the right times, making sure I had what I needed, and just genuinely attentive. The service alone made this place stand out.
Food came out super quick, which I appreciated after being on the road all day. I ordered goat curry (medium), spicy naan, cucumber raita, and onion salad. The curry was flavorful and comforting, naan had a nice kick, and everything tasted fresh. Portions were perfect for one person, filling but not heavy. Quality, quantity, and price were all really solid.
The restaurant itself was very clean and well kept, which I always notice right away. Prices were also really reasonable for what you get.
Only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because I’ve tried a lot of Indian food in different cities, and while this was definitely better than many spots, it didn’t quite hit that “best I’ve ever had” level. Still, it’s absolutely worth stopping if you’re passing through.
Funny thing after about 8 PM the area started feeling like a ghost town but inside was warm, welcoming, and lively.
Service definitely made this place shine, and I’d gladly stop again.

My family and I stopped at Spice Garden on our drive down I-5, and we’re so glad we did. The location is super convenient right off the highway, and from the moment we sat down we felt genuinely cared for. Service was fast, friendly, and attentive—we had multiple servers throughout the night and were never left waiting.
We loved everything we ordered: pakoras (a standout!), chicken biryani, lamb bati, butter chicken, papadam and garlic naan. We also appreciated the endless masala chai refills. The chutney and plum sauce were exceptional, and to top it all off, I had their house-made pistachio ice cream, which was incredibly creamy and delicious.
I was shocked to hear they’ve only been open for about five months—they truly have it figured out. We’ll absolutely be back and will be recommending this spot to everyone passing through Redding!

Service is exceptional. The paneer makni tastes sweet with raisins in it and some kind of frozen cash n carry sauce? No tarka, no masala. Was so bland, my kid wouldn’t eat it and I had to refresh at home. /make it taste fresh. Sauce had a sourness to it too, maybe old? Also, less garlic and fresh garlic on the naan would be so much nicer. I love to see the restaurant do well so that is the only reason for saying. Ate out needing a break from cooking but didn’t get it.

Authentic North Indian cuisine, and probably the best butter chicken in the North State to be found here! Their spice levels are definitely adjusted for an Americanized palate:
if you want a standard mild Indian level spice make sure to order at least medium spice level here and above. Excellent samosas (crispy on the outside while perfectly spiced potato masala on the inside), onion bhaji, veggie and chicken pakoras. The papadums are a bit too charred/overly toasted both times I ordered them but deliciously fragrant and thankfully not greasy; rose lassi was delicate in flavor while the mango lassi was a bit punchier/stronger in flavor. All of the lamb dishes were seasoned wonderfully, not gamey but tender. Chettinad kolee, chicken vindaloo, and biryani were all delicious. Brought multiple friends here and each time the food was consistently delicious, flavors are on point! If you have a large group be sure to get the bread basket – it includes one each of the onion and garlic naan, and two of the plain naan. All of them are pillowy on top and crispy on the bottom, and perfect for sharing! I would request less toasted if you’re worried about consuming charred foods, the staff are very responsive. The pistachio ice cream is delicious because it is flavored with cardamom; it is dense, creamy, yet delicate at the same time. Definitely an excellent addition to the Redding food scene! It’s mostly North Indian cuisine (with the exception of a few dishes like the Chettinad chicken), so for your dosa fix go to Priya off Hartnell. Lovely service by a team of attentive waitstaff and the location is next to Linda’s Hallmark where Taj Mahal used to be. I recommend you bring some friends, order a few dishes and enjoy it family style! Also great for to go orders too. Enjoy!

The staff here was AWESOME and so so kind! My boyfriend and I got cheese and garlic naan and it was perfect with the tamarind and mint chutney. I got goat curry medium spice and bf got tikka masala chicken medium spice. It was for sure medium spice, spicy but didn’t leave you crying. All the food came out piping hot straight from kitchen, the rice was perfect, and the portions were perfect size to share with each other. They boxed our food up for us, and even gave us a complimentary rice pudding. Definitely worth a visit! (Photos before and after our meal, wiped clean!)

The BEST INDIAN FOOD in town and that we’ve ever experienced!!! The restaurant is very welcoming with happy and a very pleasant staff, great atmosphere and delicious smells. For our family we ordered takeout of Chicken Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken spice level Hot, Naan bread and Samosas. I would have snapped a photo of our amazing dishes but my family couldn’t wait to eat it all haha. We plan to dine in very soon and possibly make it a bi-weekly dinner 🙂 A must try and highly HIGHLY recommend! Thank you Spice Garden!! UPDATE 11/22/25 ! We went in for dine in tonight and were again greeted with the amazing staff and spoiled with their amazing food! Thank you again to our server Olek!

Wow, what an amazing place to eat. The staff is so friendly and talkative and the food is over the top good. I’ve never had Cheese Naan, and they have it here. Rice is included with every meal, that I’ve never seen either. Do not miss this place!

Spice Garden in Redding is truly one of the best Indian restaurants in the area. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and cooked with a real authentic cuisine taste. The restaurant stays clean, the service is friendly, and the vibes are always welcoming.

My wife and I stayed at an airbnb close to this area and this restaurant was a goood find. The food was very good and the staff was friendly. There is also tons of parking available as this is located in a small shopping mall area.
