Delightful food and service in Antwerp’s oldest restaurant. They have a large menu and could manage our dietary needs, and had a beer suggestion for most decisions. The rice pudding is a must try!

I’ve been many times here and I’m sorry to say I feel it is not longer the good restaurant it used to be.
I had the waterzooi, it was too salty and some of the potatoes were not fully cooked. They also forgot part of the order and it wasn’t that busy.
Not too expensive, but this place is not cheap either. I will still give it a try again at some point.

We had a lovely dinner; the husbands dish was too much to finish, the staff made us a doggy bag without having a 4 legged friend
Service was swift and very friendly.
Thank you❣️

The mussels here are absolutely perfect! I had the house specialty – the Rooden Hoed style – and they were bursting with flavor, full of fresh herbs and perfectly cooked. Even the small portion is surprisingly large, easily enough for one very hungry person (or to share). They come with fries on the side, which are also great. Everything tastes fresh. If you want to try truly delicious mussels in Antwerp, this is the place to be. Highly recommended!

Food was good but not unforgettable. I find the lobster pasta sauce kinda weird though my husband and son found it ok. The beers pairing was nice.

Service was attentive though I wasn’t too happy that a chipped glass was used.

It was a rather expensive meal to me. I didn’t expect to be charged eur1.50 each for ketchup and mayo.

However, you do get a good view of the church and the happenings on the street if you are seated by the window. That’s a big plus.

It’s a nice restaurant in the city center. The food was really good, we had a nice beef stew and and a large sauerkraut plate with a selection of sausages. However, we were not satisfied with the service. A different starter was served than the one we asked for. We sent it back, so we received the right starter after 1 hour of waiting. Similarly, after asking for mashed potetoes, we got french fries and had to wait again for them to change it. In the end, we asked for a cup of coffee which wasn’t served for more than 30 minutes. After 20 minutes of waiting, we notified the waiters again and asked for the bill as well. Still, they didn’t bring either the coffee or the bill after 10 more minutes. Then we decided to go and pay at the bar because our train was leaving soon. They even wanted us to pay for the coffee which was never served in the first place. This all happened in the afternoon and not during lunch/dinner time. I can honestly recommend the food but the service was disappointing.

Very cosy restaurant. The smallest mussel portion is quite big for 1 person.

Visited on November 19th. While the food was great and the atmosphere welcoming, the service was disappointing. We ordered a Coke Zero three times from different staff members, but it never arrived, yet we were still charged for it. This was frustrating, as I wanted it with my meal.

Service felt disorganized, with long delays to correct the bill and no apology for the oversight. For the high prices, the service should be much better—perhaps hiring additional staff would help.

The food was enjoyable, but the poor service left a bad impression. I hope they improve this aspect soon.

Small and quaint place in the heart of the tourist centre and unfortunately a tourist trap.

Music was obnoxiously loud and the sound quality was really bad so it sort of rings ik your ears the whole time. We had to ask 4 times before they sort of turned the volume to a level that is bearable.

The cheese croquettes were good but not freshly made. The fish trio was good and fresh and the lobster sauce very decent. The steak tartare was unfortunately bad. Taste was a little funny and overall not good. French fries were oit of the freezer and undercooked. The salad served with the meals was not very good. A little unimaginative and very roughly cut.

Staff was friendly even though reluctant to turn the volume down. Overall not a very good experience and will not be coming back.

For close to 80 euro for 2 main dishes, a starter and a few drinks you would expect a higher quality of food.
