Initial Expectation vs. Reality
I was initially told this establishment was comparable to Pasado’s, but I must strongly disagree. This is an important distinction: this restaurant serves traditional Mexican cuisine, not Tex-Mex. While I appreciate the difference, the overall execution fell short of satisfying.
The Food: Flavor and Quality
To be frank, the meal was merely mediocre. I found that the flavors of almost every dish were quite bland and lacked the depth and vibrance I expect from good Mexican cooking. Nothing on the menu stood out as exceptional or even memorable.
Presentation and Experience (To-Go Order)
The to-go presentation was particularly disappointing—it was not attractive at all. While I understand standards can be lower for take-out, a little more effort in making the meal appealing would significantly improve the overall experience.
Conclusion
While some patrons might find this style appealing, it simply was not for me. I will not be returning to this restaurant.

Place has been renovated nicely but my order was all screwed up. Been ordering from them for over 5years since moving to the area. Will not order again! This is the kabobs with rice and beans per door dash menu… They asked me to come back for the beans..nope! Update the door dash menu!! Also the prices on door dash are extremely lesser than doing a call in order.

The flavors are gland for a mexican restaurant. The kitchen was extremely slow. 2 baskets of tortilla chips later the food arrived.
The Alhambra had no flavor the shrimp was dried out
The drinks (non alcoholic) was over $4 shocking. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

This is one of my favorite places to eat in shreveport. They have a nice menu and the drinks are great as well. The dish that they put the food in the pineapple has been my favorite so far. The Birria tacos are fire and the trio fried rice smacks too.

Customer service has gone down tremendously. We sat at the bar as we always do. I understand they have to work the bar and other close areas, however, better systems need to be in place. We walked in and sat down. We were sitting 10 minutes before we were acknowledged. When it was time to pay, we had to hunt the server down. She brought the card back, said it declined and went on to the next person. I waited until she finished and asked her what did it say on the machine. She just said it declined. As I looked at the payment terminal I noticed that it had a different zip code than mine. She said that didn’t matter, but asked my zip code and put it in. Guess what, it went through and she had an attitude because she didn’t want to try it. All she had to do was listen. I guess we have to find us a new Mexican restaurant.

The food is average of a texmex place. Service varies widely depending on your server. I’ve had 2 bad experiences: an additional $2 was added to my tip without my consent. A separate occasion I found a dead fruit fly on the lettuce. Do not recommend.

A lot of people have been talking about this restaurant, so my Husband and I decided to try it. It was good. The frozen margaritas are Bomb.com. The salsa is everything that people say it is. The queso is very good. Our food was pretty, fresh, hot, and good.

I would suggest bringing a lite jacket. It’s on the cooler side.
