If you’re craving some seriously delicious barbecue, look no further than Ridgewood Barbecue! The standout for me was definitely their blue cheese dip — it’s rich, creamy, and packed with flavor! Perfect for dipping the crackers.

Not only is the food fantastic, but the portions are absolutely massive! You definitely get your money’s worth. I left feeling completely satisfied and ready to come back for more. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a great meal in a cozy atmosphere!

6/21/2025 A friend took me here and said it was a popular place. You wouldn’t know it was here unless someone told you about it.
The service was great. Food was yummy and you could tell this was a beloved place!
I ordered the bbq plate which came with fries and we ordered the homemade blue cheese. I dipped my fries in the blue cheese dip! The coleslaw is also very good! Reminded me of the slaw my mom makes so yeah it was that good!

Only downside of this place, they don’t have any homemade desserts! They need some homemade pie or something!!! How can you have dinner without dessert especially being in the south!!! Highly recommend stopping by this place for a bite to eat. There will be a short wait but it’s worth it!

For me: it’s always been delicious, fast, hot and great prices. Can’t go wrong with this place. On the weekends prepare to wait. You will get enough food to make you loosen your belt and still bring home enough for another meal.

You have to go during non peak time. I went about 3:00pm and it was perfect. We got right in with no wait. Ordered the blue cheese appetizer that was amazing. This is actually why I go. We all ordered the pork sandwich which you can have with or without coleslaw slathered in the sandwich. I got it in the sandwich and it was great! Next time, I will definitely share the order with someone cuz it is a huge sandwich!! Also, the beans are fantastic!!

The food was great, and the portions were very large. The sweet tea was the best that I’ve had in a while. The service was exceptional, and the waitress was very courteous and friendly. Great experience!

The sliced barbecue pork is consistently excellent! You have to try the blue cheese dip with crackers and the barbecue beans. They are famous for these 3 items. The French fries are sliced fresh and all of the portions are generous.

The building desperately needs updating. The floors and nearly everything else are worn out and stuck in the 1970s.

The most famous BBQ restaurant in Eastern Tennessee . Four stars not Five?
It’s the Atmosphere! That’s why.
Located in an old outdated building that has had very little money put into the upkeep for 50 plus years! Very small restaurant with tables jammed packed with people. The building is very close to being classified as a dump. Winter time is a better time to visit when high humidity doesn’t drip down from the ventilation above the tables and flies are not in the windows.
Now that being said ! And I know that sounds bad but please understand they have a magic trio that keeps them in business and makes them who they are! The sliced BBQ pork, slaw and the best secret BBQ sauce anywhere! These three things on a sandwich is absolutely the best BBQ anywhere. It is what makes people come back for years! When you add the BBQ beans which is a meal into themselves . You are in for an amazing BBQ dinner! If you are about the food and don’t care about the atmosphere then join the club of “The Original Ridgewood Barbecue lovers “ .
Yes I am one of them just wish there was a better place to sit down and enjoy it !

Decided after 2 years of wanting to try this place why not go today. We arrived got in quick service. We both got the BBQ pork platter and it was awful. Literally looked and tasted just like shaved thanksgiving ham with sauce.
I try BBQ in every state that I go to and this was the first experience with anything like that.

I waited forever for a 1 person table. The approach to service reminds me of an assembly line. Everyone was extremely nice and admittedly busy. The Cole slaw is exceptional. The BBQ Pork platter is good. A ridiculous amount of fries. The tea is top notch. Parking is a bit tricky. All in all it was good. I’d go back.

Oh WOW. Yes, it is that good. Super friendly staff! Food was all excellent. You can tell all is homemade! Beanswe delicious, slaw was perfect with not too much mayo, fries are hand cut, and the BBQ is sliced! I know, that is not typical, but It was so good! They told me they use fresh hams instead of fresh shoulders, that makes the slicing possible. Finally, no matter what, get the blue cheese! Just dip crackers in it, fries, or put it on a salad, wow!

We bought 2 pints of sauce, sweet but not too sweet, very good! Lot’s of tradition at this little place WAY off the beaten path basically in a residential area. Loved it and will be back many times!
