This used to be the place to go back in the days. The food had flavor. I had salmon, greens and potato salad. Everything tastes bland. The sausage on the salmon was trying to percolate but it just didn’t have what it takes. The Salmon did taste fresh I will admit. The corn bread was much too soft. The peach cobbler was like the little engine that thought he could. It had crust but it wasn’t made in the south.
Soul food is a very hard dish to make. You have to feel it to make it come out right. You can’t just cook greens and say it’s soul food. The greens had no smoked meat to give it that flavor. The mac n cheese was loose. It didn’t taste like it had cheddar or 3 different cheeses. The potato salad tastes like Samantha Stephens made it. I spent $72 and was disappointed. I took plates home. They didn’t enjoy the smothered chicken. I’m scared to try the smothered turkey wings that I purchased.
I think that was my last and final visit.
However the service was great and there were enough people to form a chain and keep the line moving.

It can be tough to find a restaurant where the food is genuinely good and you also feel comfortable bringing young children. This place nails the balance. They were so welcoming to our family—brought the kids’ meals out quickly, had a little coloring sheet ready, and didn’t bat an eye at the inevitable mess. But the food for the adults was sophisticated and delicious; it wasn’t an afterthought. We got to enjoy a really lovely meal while the kids were happy and occupied. It’s our new favorite spot for an early dinner with the whole family.

I use to love this place, but tuh-day both this Tuna and Mac salads were HORRIBLE.. I mean straight . Frozen noodles and mayo is all there’s to taste.. This is disappointing.

This is one of my favorite spots in Queens to get fried fish. I’ve had fried fish from numerous spots in Queens but this is my go-to. The yams are also good and the cabbage and the cornbread. My niece likes the mac and cheese. I don’t eat dairy so I can’t speak on it. The staff pretty cool And it’s always clean when I go in there.

So delicious! I ordered delivery for beef bbq ribs, mac and cheese, candied yams, and potato salad. Everything was spot on. Only thing was the fried chicken was a little under-seasoned for my liking, but the breading was good. Will order food from here again

My sister orders food from here on Sundays for my father, herself, and I. The food has always been good. Yesterday, I went into the shoppe myself and ordered. I was very impressed with the layout. There were items on the menu I didn’t even know about prior . I am really impressed by the fact this is a Black owned establishment. I’m even more impressed by the fact the spot is owned and operated by some members of the Diasporic family. I say this because they know their clientale well and cater to them without flaw. I will continue to nyam (eat) from this establishment for as long as we are both in existence. ✊

I always love coming here when I visit a church there. Food is delicious and the portion size is generous. The line is usually long but it moves. Worth the 40min drive

Do NOT order catering from this place. After putting in an order almost a week ago for almost $2000 worth of food, it was not ready at the pickup time. There are hundreds of people waiting for their food and an hour and a half after the food was supposed to ready, I’m still waiting with no explanation on what’s taking so long. It will be a very lonnngggf time before I step foot back in here. If you need something on time, don’t bother coming here.
Update:
I got part of my order after waiting an hour and 45 minutes. I left and came back 30 minutes later to pick up the rest. Timing is one thing , quality is something completely different. I ordered multiple items and was EXTREMELY disappointed. First, the stuffing was not cooked at all it was wet soggy bread or breadcrumbs. The turkey wings were TOUGH and should of cooked longer. The cabbage was mixed with collards and they were gritty. I have never in my entire life had a worse catering experience. I do multiple catering events every single year and I will NEVER give Rib Shack my business again. I like to buy black whenever possible and circulate money within the community to other black businesses but they are officially off the list. I was fully prepared to remove my earlier review about the lateness and post something positive but the quality of the food was just disrespectful.
