Our hostess and waitress were lovely and personable. Glad I went with the chicken fried steak cause it was delicious and huge! I also loved the complimentary rolls, the fried “market mushrooms” appetizer w/ ranch, and the fried okra I had on the side.
The sweet tea was decent. And while the cole slaw was a little too sweet and mayo-y for my taste (I tend to prefer vinegar-based slaw) I still ate it. Overall I was very satisfied with my meal.
My family was in town, and we hadn’t been to a Black Eyed Pea in many years, so when we decided to visit this one we weren’t disappointed

I’m from Mississippi moved to Lakewood in December and this is honestly the first time I’ve tasted good food that reminds me of home. The food is comforting, delicious, and makes me want to go to sleep with how warm my tummy is. The staff is super sweet, patient, and have that nice southern hospitality charm. Definitely will be coming here more often and this is my favorite place to eat now! 100% recommend! Was very surprised there wasn’t many customers here. Fill this lovely place up!

Should have listened to my sister. Interracial couples are not welcome here. If they are Terri C. is not. We got seated by the hostess who was very nice. Once we met Terri automatically “alright let’s go guys” like goodness gracious if you don’t want to serve us just let us know. Asked what drinks we would like. It was rushed like 5 minutes to get your order in. She stood there sighing, waiting instead of saying I’ll be right back. We got everything in. She went to the next table and laughed up a storm with the non-mixed couples. Older non-minorities were served with great customer service. We received a dirty fork. Caesar salad tasted like dirt old lettuce. The lettuce under the mozzarella sticks was fresh though. She didn’t pick up the dishes before bringing our dinner. So it was us gathering the plates and getting them ready for her to take. Food felt old, my husband got the fried steak he said it felt like rubber. My favorite part was my kids, they were supposed to get cookies as a part of the kids meals. Did they? No but the non-minority girl got a cookie. I definitely saw it when I was walking to the bathroom. The only time we got a smile was when she got the $67 from us. We waited for the cookies and didn’t even feel like asking for them, like why even at this point. Thanks for making me wake up and realize racism is real here. Thanks for the tears.

We come into the store occasionally but more often order to go and have never, not once received a fully accurate order. We get chicken fried chicken and don’t receive gravy at all, or dressing for salads, or even the correct side dishes. It’s a very basic order and how it’s messed up is beyond me. Wouldn’t recommend anything to go and the in store dining is just meh

Am l’m so glad we went here for my birthday last night 03- 04 – 24,
there was 5 of us in my group, and there were a few other couples there but it wasn’t too busy, but then we got there around 7: 30 and they close at 8 pm , but they let us stay and order and eat. We had a couple of appetizers, loaded tater tots, and cheese sticks and the those dipping sauce were the best in house made I’ve had in along time especially the marinara sauce,( I really want there recipe) every one was very pleased with there dinners they had ordered I had a CFS Dinner with mashed potatoes, and broccoli rice casserole, my youngest granddaughter had Shepherd pie, and onion rings, and my oldest granddaughter had the mashed potatoes bowl, Which is Chicken chicken tenders and corn with mashed potatoes and gravy and cheese on top .my daughter had rib eye steak , Fried okra and squash casserole. And my son in law had liver and onions with gravy and a Caesar salad, . The thing is this was a lot of food and I only seen one server and he waited on us with a smile and kindness and patience and he took care of the other people in the restaurant as well. I didn’t catch his name but he did a fantastic job and since it was my birthday they gave me a cherry cobbler with icecream on top it was delicious and enjoyed it with everyone at the table , all the food was delicious home cooked meal this place is like a cute hidden little jem, the atmosphere was very pleasant it wasn’t loud or noisy every body could talk at a soft normal tone and be heard with bothering others guests in the restaurant , I highly recommend this Black eyed pea restaurant.

Went on Wednesday about 5:30pm. Was sat immediately, was very chill. My order was taken quickly and was out within minutes. The roles are awesome, the pot roast was delicious.

I had honestly thought all of these locations were shut down. We were looking for a home cooked meal and found one. The meatloaf turkey and chicken fried steak was excellent. The young gentleman that helped me at the bar was very nice. Thank you!!

We went to have lunch there today and the service was horrible! The woman that greets us at the door never smiled and grumped when we asked for a booth. I don’t know how long we sat there waiting, but we never received acknowledgment that we were even there. A waitress or waiter never came by. We really love the food there, but the service is something that really needs to be worked on. Needless to say, we gave up waiting and went somewhere else.
