Great spot and the food was super good!
Loved that you just order off a piece of paper and you can totally customize everything. Super simple but well thought out and a great way to keep things simple but make sure your get exactly what you want!

Nothing like rolling in with 5 girls for a Bachelorette Party and lucking out with seats at the bar! Instantly greeted by Matt and Max, we had delicious margs, guac, salsa and chips! The smiles, tacos and hospitality were top notch — from the host to the bartenders. Make sure you hit Bario if you are in Portsmouth, you won’t be disappointed!

I got a shrimp bowl- paid $2.50 extra for shrimp. I wish i was exaggerating when i say the gave me 3 pieces of tiny shrimp. Literally 3. I’ll just go to chipotle next time.

Fun atmosphere, fantastic service, the food leaves a lot to be desired, but you are probably not going here for the food, this is a great place for drinks and atmosphere.
The menu is a bit confusing but it’s nice you can make your own taco creations. I decided to go with the El Pastor bowl and some queso.
Not sure I would go back but if you are visiting Portsmouth looking for a fun place to hang out, I would recommend a visit.

Barrio in Portsmouth, NH, is a fantastic spot that offers a vibrant, casual atmosphere perfect for enjoying tasty tacos and creative cocktails. From the moment I walked in, the energy was lively and welcoming, with a cool, laid-back vibe that makes it a great hangout spot with friends or family. I especially loved the wide variety of tacos—they allow you to build your own or choose from unique chef specials. My favorite was the Coca-Cola marinated steak taco, which was packed with bold, fresh flavors. The guacamole and queso with chips were outstanding starters, setting the tone for a satisfying meal. The drink menu features inventive margaritas and a solid selection of beers, with drinks that are both delicious and potent. Service was attentive and friendly, enhancing the overall experience. Although the indoor space can get a bit loud and busy, the outdoor patio seating provides a nice alternative to enjoy the food and drinks in a relaxed setting. Prices are reasonable for the quality and portions. Whether you’re there for a quick bite or a full meal, Barrio delivers fresh, flavorful food and a cool atmosphere that keeps you coming back. Highly recommend if you’re in Portsmouth and craving great tacos with a fun vibe!

Very cool atmosphere – the staff was great and our waitress was awesome. We went with 3 hungry college kids and everyone was happy and full when we left. The make your own option for tacos was great! The chicken bacon ranch bowl was delish! Would definitely go there again!

Barrio is officially at the top of our list. We’ve only been for brunch and really need to try their regular menu.
The portions and prices are unmatched. Try everything! We had a hard time deciding and picked 4 things to share. We were not disappointed.
Cocktails were top notch as well.

I’d give Barrio a 3.5. Positives: I love that they’re open late, hard to find in NH. They have so many options, especially for the build your own tacos which makes for a unique experience and the biggest reason why I give this place stars—I liked being able to build three totally unique tacos just how I wanted. The bacon jam guacamole was very good and a large portion, and came with free salsa which was also very tasty. They also have a very large drink selection and their cocktails looked good.
Negatives: PRICE. This place is very expensive for what it is. My partner and I each got dinner, shared the guac, and ordered 3 drinks total and our total was $100. The tacos were good but kind of skimpy on filling. We got a side of black beans for $1.50 and the size was laughable, picture a little cup you use for ketchup!!!!! One of our tacos was forgotten and then took a while to finally get it.
This certainly is not a Mexican restaurant, if that’s what you’re looking for go elsewhere (at least your meal will come with a side of rice and beans there). But if you’re looking for a unique experience and like to handpick your ingredients then I suggest trying it but keeping in mind how much you’ll spend.

I love any of their tacos on the bombshells. Went on a weekend night, so it was packed, but my group (of 2) was still able to be sat under 5 min wait. My husband’s seafood taco had a strong lime flavoring. He wasn’t a fan, but I didn’t have an issue when I tried a bite of his. The Margarita flight was excellent! My favorite was the Blackberry, also big kudos to them for giving a flavor options for the flight. Being an FD Supervisor at a local hotel this is one of my top recommend this places to checkout when they get into town late.
