A great Nicaraguan restaurant with a vast variety of food in its menu. There is a lot to choose; however, I’d recommend either churrasco or whole rosted chicken. Still the rest is good. There’s also seafood options and many cocktails to enjoy. The place is so nice, feels like in a small colonial town from Nicaragua. The staff is really nice and very knowledgeable of the menu. Plenty of free parking in the plaza.

This place has been here for quite a while and thankfully the food is still hitting the spot. Is it the best meat? No but you’re also not paying $75 for an 8oz steak!
The one thing though, service was very slow. It’s more of an old family tradition at this point I guess.
Ample parking as this location sits in the middle of a shopping plaza

We had a nice experience at El Novillo! The baby churrasco was really good, cooked perfectly and full of flavor. We also ordered the small sample platter and it was delicious, a great way to try a little bit of everything. Our server unfortunately wasn’t the best, but thankfully Karel, who was our food runner and busser, truly made our visit the best experience. He was polite, attentive, and respectful at all times. He went above and beyond to make sure we were actually taken care of. Thank you, Karel, for your excellent service, you really made a difference in our visit!

Great Nicaraguan restaurant in Miami, for those feeling the nostalgia for Los Ranchos this is by far a cheaper but with great quality option. I had the churrasco with jalapeño sauce and it was phenomenal. They offer salad and garlic breads as complementary entries and they’re so good. We had beers as drinks (they sell Toña but now you can find it almost anywhere in Miami lol) and for dessert we had some tres leches and it was out of this world. I would definitely return, the attention was remarkable, and the restaurant is quite nice but it’s very cold, it seems the AC is in Winter Mode, but other than that cannot complain about anything. Perfect spot!

This place is great service is always on point. They took our party of 8 right away no wait. The food is great I recommend the sampler this is the one sampler I’ve seen that gets eaten completely by the table everything in it is good. The churrasco is good and their rice is great. Make sure you ask the servers for some of the free bread too its very good. The one place they lack in is they dont have fresh juices. Price is typical of a good restaurant. Portions are big and you can ask for more rice.

Had a the Nicatizer Sampler Platter to try their different types of appetizers, they were average and then had Big Daddy 16oz Churrasco served with nice Gallo Pinto (rice and beans), fried plantains and plantain chips the steak was also average but lived the pickled onions. The atmosphere is nice Latin American style but a little bit outdated.

Update .

This time around, on my second visit to this restaurant on a regular weekday, it was a better experience than on the first visit. I brought my wife to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and this time the experience was much better. The food was always delicious, and our waiter was very professional and friendly.

First visit.
Good food but too crowded, waiters bumping into each other’s. Very uncomfortable to eat.

We had searched for a venue for our small, intimate wedding in April and without further ado, we selected El Novillo Restaurant in 6830 SW 40 St in Miami, FL. We passed by in person and we spoke with Luis, sales manager, who helped us with the packages for 30 guests and he replied quickly and the price was perfect. The place looked beautiful and well maintained very clean and organized. Then we spoke with Cesar, General Manager, was so friendly and professional who helped us and gave us suggestions on preparing our wedding dinner and the set up. The day of the wedding dinner and they set up beforehand and then we added some decorations and florals for the event and looked absolutely beautiful. The decor and the romantic ambience is exactly what we wanted. We thought It was supposed to be very simple yet elegant but it was far more than we imagined. The pictures looked so beautiful and of course the food was fantastic! Our guests really enjoyed the delicious food and sangria. Yader was our head waiter and he helped us tending to our needs and wishes and he did an absolute job with us and we were so pleased with the amazing service he offered. We had an unforgettable night with our very close families thanks to El Novillo Restaurant and staff! I highly recommend this place! And I would choose it again for another event.

I recently visited El Novillo with my family not too long ago and I have some mixed opinions about this place. We had a good meal, but it just wasn’t “amazing”. A family friend who used to live in Miami 20+ years ago had hyped it up for a long time and we decided to give it a shot – it’s a nicer Nicaraguan steakhouse serving all the traditional meat dishes, with some specialties like chicken churrasco, seafood dishes, and more. There’s a good variety of Nicaraguan appetizers, and they bring out some garlic bread, salad, plantains, and rice & beans with all entrees, which is actually really nice. We got chicken churrasco, steak churrasco, and repocheta el novillo as an appetizer. The sides weren’t very good other than the plantains – those were great. The chicken churrasco was actually surprisingly better than the steak one – it was quite juicy and flavorful. Really nice! The steak was kinda chewy and not quite what I was hoping for. Cooked to perfection, just not that tender. For a restaurant that proclaims “world famous churrasco”, I would expect the best of the best. I just unfortunately can’t say it was the best!

Our food came out in a timely manner and service was good, other than our first waiter not speaking any English and him needing to bring us a different one – not really any big complaints though. Awesome atmosphere though, I have to say!! I just think, in general, this is one of those places that was once incredible, and has since fallen off a bit. You can see that from all their awards plastered on the wall by the entrance – looks impressive, but then you see most them are from the late 90s and early 2000s. It also would make sense why our family friend was raving about this place – they probably hadn’t been here in 15+ years. So would I recommend this restaurant? Probably not – unless you want to try chicken churrasco. That’s really good. This place has tons of potential – hopefully they’ll make the necessary changes to head in the right direction again!!
