Read a lot of great reviews about this place in Providence and decided to go there for a late lunch on Saturday. The place is cosy but a bit small. My friend and I shared a Margherita flat bread and five cheese pasta. Both were delicious and highly recommended. For dessert, we had the pear tart. It was good but not worth it for the price. The service was a bit slow. We were first served the flat bread then the pasta after around 20 minutes which is a bit weird. If we weren’t sharing these dishes, one person would have had to eat before the other. We were also asked to order the dessert while ordering the main dishes because the waiter said that it takes some time to prepare and that’s what we did but we still ended up waiting some time. I would still give this place 5 starts because the food is worth the wait.

Genuinely the best food spot in Rhode Island and a top 3 Italian place in New England. Choose this over almost anywhere else if you can secure a reservation, although walk ins are very possible. The Black Sea Bass tonight is the best food I’ve had in a LONG time.
Shoutout to Donny who provided us absolutely amazing service!

The service here is amazing. I can’t even begin to tell you how pleasant it was to interact with this staff. I booked a table for 10 people, months before we came, but totally forgot to tell them my father was in a wheelchair. (Totally our fault). They booked a space for us upstairs. But they went above and beyond to find a solution and set something up downstairs to make it work.
Lily the manager, Arora who walked us in, and waitress Lenore (hope I spelled their names right) were the definition of hospitable. In this day and age, it’s truly refreshing to see people who care about the work that they do. Go visit them!

Al Forno was an amazing experience from start to finish. The food was freshly prepared and absolutely delicious. You can really taste the quality and care in every dish. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. Made reservations in advance so we didn’t have to wait. I loved every part of it and will definitely be back!

Still the best restaurant in Providence hands down. Given the quality of the food the prices are more than fair. All our meals were outstanding. In particular the fall corn pizza w scallions was sublime.

First time having a meal at Al Forno’s, great experience. Classic RI old school building with major visual appeal! Service was good. FYI, the chef will only cooked beef to a medium rare, nothing higher for temperature prep. They have their own parking lot. Plus, you can enjoy a great view of the bridge and marina!

This was our first visit to Providence, and Al Forno made it unforgettable. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the service, décor, and warm atmosphere . The host was welcoming, hospitable, and accommodated us perfectly.Once seated at a cozy table next to the outside bar, our server, Jake, was prompt, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. He gave us fantastic recommendations and delivered exceptional service throughout the evening. His colleague Chandler was equally attentive, stepping in seamlessly whenever Jake was with other guests.Visiting from NJ, my wife and I are big fans of Italian cuisine, and this place exceeded our expectations. We started with the Corn Pizza, followed by Corn Fritters, then enjoyed Rigatoni Bolognese. For dessert, we savored hand-turned blackberry ice cream and a mixed berry tart—every bite was outstanding.
As self-proclaimed foodies, we give Al Forno a solid 10/10. This experience alone guarantees we’ll be back. Thank you for a truly memorable night!

This is the best Italian food I’ve had in years! We loved it so much, we went there for dinner both nights that we were in town. The grilled pizzas are deliciously light and flavorful. We got the pepperoni pizza (they make their own pepperoni). Be sure to add the chili sauce. The rigatoni bolognese was to die for! We thought that dish was better than the five cheese pasta, although that one was delicious as well. We also got the cinnamon ice cream for dessert and it’s the best ice cream I’ve ever had (also made fresh in house). The flavor reminds me of a Dominican dish call sweet rice. Everything was high quality and delicious. Worth every penny! We would come here very week if we lived here!

This was my first time at Al Forno, and I now understand why they’re always booked! Since we didn’t have reservations, we sat at the bar, and luckily, there was no wait. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, but what truly stood out was the exceptional service. Our waitress was incredibly sweet, friendly, and attentive. She not only gave us great recommendations but also took the time to listen to our dietary restrictions —customer service is a solid 5/5!
We started with their Grilled Pizza Margarita as an appetizer, and it was absolutely delicious! The crust was thin, crispy, and slightly charred, almost like a delicate pita bread. The combination of fresh tomato, basil, and cheese was simple yet incredibly flavorful. Hands down, the best thin-crust pizza I’ve had!
For entrées, we ordered:
• Baked Pasta with Five Cheeses – This dish was rich, creamy, and incredibly comforting. The simplicity of the ingredients let the cheese shine through in the best way.
• Dirty Steak (off-menu item) – Cooked exactly to our preference, this steak is a hidden gem. The dark sauce complemented the steak beautifully, adding depth and richness, while the mashed potatoes brought a perfect balance of sweet and salty flavors.
• Grilled & Spice-Rubbed Half Chicken – Easily the best chicken I’ve ever had! It was unbelievably tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. But the real star was the Harissa sauce—creamy, zesty, & sweet ish, making every bite perfection. This is officially my favorite dish at Al Forno!
For dessert, we went with the Grand Cookie Finale, an assortment of cookies and chocolate truffles that are simply to die for. A sweet ending to an already amazing meal!
Overall, Al Forno exceeded my expectations in every way. I’ll definitely be back to explore more of the menu, and I highly recommend this gem to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience in Providence!
