Reviews
Placed our order over the phone with a 30 minute pickup time. Order taker was patient, answered several questions and helped place the order with ease and a welcoming attitude. This basic service is often missing from desi restaurants and was a welcome surprise.
Restaurant is a respectable size and dining areas are clean. Decor, lighting and ambience are above average for a desi restaurant. Staff is friendly and cheerful, while handling a flurry of carry out orders. Dining hall was mostly empty around 8pm Sunday night.
While the service and staff are nice, the overall food and taste disappointed and scored a 3 out of 5. Individual entree scores below.
Chicken dum biryani (score 3/5)
Chicken tikka boti (score 4/5)
Chicken tikka masala (score 2/5)
Chilli chicken (3/5)
If we find ourselves with almost no options, are super hungry, and are up to a drive, we may consider this (maybe).
Other two.. not so good!!!
After that we decided to order main course, 1 gravy, few breads and 2 biryanis. I have just one word.. awful.
Chicken Chetinadu – Literally I can rhyme it with a curse word.
Biryani – Tasteless (ordered chicken dum biryani). Tried a Biryani from a grocery store few days back and it was much better.
Naan – Too crispy. No need of ordering paapads
Tandoori Roti – Good
Best part of our dinner night was, water, mouthfreshner sauf and crispy naans
We are Indians and we love our food, will give respect and honor if it is worthy…this visit, this food.. not worthy of $140 bill.
(Got a response from owner within 3 hours – “they are proud of their food as they have 30+ locations all over and they found insulting if someone writes a review which is less than X stars.”
Standard behavior. Mcd has 13K locations and if you write that one of the locations fast food is better or worst than others due to any reason, they never respond with harsh comments. They acknowledge and try to be better. It’s a mindset.. nothing else!)
Edit: Went for dinner again and got the butter chicken (fantastic as usual), pakora (still same good quality) and the persis special biryani (some heat to it but really good). Service a little slow (had to flag the server down a few times) and the music on the TV was still a little loud but none of those will stop us from coming back. Great food!!
Their samosa is spicier than other restaurants I’d tried, but still good. The chicken 65 (first time having this ever) was amazing! It was moist and spiced just right.
The portions for the chicken tikka masala was humongous! We both got between mild-medium, but next time I think I’d try medium spicy. There were not only loads of white meat chicken, but also pieces of fresh vegetables (onions, bell pepper). From my experience, other Indian restaurants don’t have that!
The mango lassi was so sweet and perfect when eating spicy food. Garlic naan was hot and fluffy and we could see the butter and fresh garlic added on top – delicious! The service was also amazing despite how many pick up orders there were. I think it is family-owned. The lady who took care of us was very nice and gave us recommendations on other dishes to try. Highly recommend checking this place out!
Would give this 3.9 if I had the option..
We ordered Persis special chicken biryani, goat fry biryani. Meat was very good. Mirchi ka Salan was alright. Chicken tikka masala and butter chicken were tasteful. However they are using the same base as most other Indian restaurants in US do for these 2 dishes.
