Wood-Fired Cooking with flavors from Baja, Leña Brava — ”ferocious firewood” — takes its inspiration from the multicultural elements of Baja California Norte in Mexico where the region celebrates its live-fire cooking and world-class wines. All our meals are cooked on an open hearth and wood-burning oven.
Hip spot for Baja-style seafood with a focus on live-fire cooking, plus mezcal & wine.

I celebrated my birthday here. Everything was amazing starting with the gentlemen that seated us, who was courteous and funny, our waitress who’s name translated was “hot sauce “. She was attentive and made great menu recommendations and the manager who checked on us and was accommodating. This was my 2nd time there and I would go back again. The food is AMAZING. We had to wait at the bar initially and the bartender was super cool. This helped make my birthday super special.

My friend and I were struggling to find somewhere to eat, until we stumbled apon this gem.
Service was fantastic, Marta is AMAZING, we felt so welcome and taken care of. Truly a ray of sunshine.
Food is the best food I’ve had in a long time. The beets dish was sooooooooo good. 10/10
100% recommend this restaurant.

Surprisingly good wood smoked menu items. Was sad to hear that they don’t carry creekstone farms items anymore. For folks looking for halal options the lamb is Australian. Server took a while to pull up but once they did the food came out quick. In their defence I didn’t see a single table open when I got there. Over all would recommend!

Amazing food, sat on the bar during happy hour… the hamburger is a double patty, super juicy. The roasted oysters were, WOW and the empanada with the poblano crema was also delish.

We came over after a bad experience at nearby Trino’s. The drinks, service, and food were phenomenal. We didn’t have a resection but didn’t mind sitting at the bar as the chairs were comfortable and we had a closer view of the open kitchen. The octopus is perfectly grilled and the tacos melted in our mouths. Our bartender (Luduvico?) recommended some amazing drinks, one of which he crafted himself. Amazing experience!

The food was incredible. One of the biggest highlights of my groups visit was the timing with the meal. Our server made sure to give us enough time to explore the menu and recommend some great options. As dinner progressed, her timing was perfect in cleaning plates and resetting the table – really made the conversation flow so smooth.
The food was absolutely delicious. We got the meat platter with the 10oz steak and everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Every bite had such a complex and smoky flavor that made you savor each bite.
Drinks were really creative and huge, although a little strong on the price. No complaints and would definitely recommend.

Disappointing experience by all accounts. Short rib was decent but had better versions at girl and the goat and other nearby restaurants. Halibut was overcooked. Didn’t love the flavors either of the mustard greens and parmesan broth. You can get better ones at 5411 Empanadas for half the price. Flan for dessert was decent.
Service was also unfortunately poor. Our first server didn’t understand our clarification questions for beverage choice. Second server was very nice but running around busy. We felt pretty ignored through the night. When flagging someone to finally get the check, we got eye rolls and as if we were a burden even though front of house was just lounging around having a good time.
I remember Lena Brava being a solid go-to spot for a nice but not exorbitant meal back in the day. Not surprised now to see so many open last minute reservations spots.

In the city with no shortage of Mexican restaurants, this place nailed it. their creativity and originality stands out and clearly demonstrates that they have done their research. The steak fruits were delicious and we definitely need to come back and try the rest of the menu.

Recommend.
I always love Lena Brava. It has such a cute atmosphere. The food, drinks, and service are typically good as well.
I would recommend a reservation.
This visit we took a shareable approach. What we had:
– Scallops
– Empanadas (Pork)
– Tacos Gobernador (lobster/shrimp)
– Crunchy Quesadilla
– Guacamole
– Shishitos
– Dessert: Tres Leches & Skillet Cookie
I enjoyed all of it. I didnt get to try the Empanadas but they finished them so I’d say it was a hit!
