(**Note – 2 weeks later 05/26/2025 and not one person from management has reached out with so much as an apology ~ definitively the worse Mother’s Day dinner ~ would have been better to have just cooked at home.)
Let me first start off with the service and atmosphere. Went today 05/11/2025 which is Mother’s Day. I was so hoping for a nice dinner and conversation hence going to a hibachi grill. Well when arrive and greeted by a lovely young lady and sat us within a minute of arriving. The table we were sat at had already ordered their drinks and were in the process of ordering their meals. This did not deter us as we already knew what we wanted to order so when the young lady came around to us, she politely asked us what we wanted to drink, and to give us a minute to look over the menu whereas we replied, we already know what we want so she took our order. I ordered combination, chicken and steak with steak cooked medium, and the young waitress even repeated the order and went on to take the rest of the group’s order.
Now they cook comes out and proceeds to ask each individual regarding the order to confirm. When the cook got to me, he asked me chicken steak steak medium, and I replied yes medium and There were several of us in the group that ordered steak one ordered, I ordered medium and three others ordered medium well and I believe one ordered well. So as he’s gotten to the part where he cooks the steaks, he cooks the young ladies medium rare hands to then he proceeds to cook the other three the medium well and then I noticed he forgot me, cause I should’ve been after the medium rare well, there’s two steaks left the one that was supposed to be well done and mine. The one that was supposed to be medium Now at this point I already know that he’s over cooking my steak because my steak sitting there on the grill still cooking on one side he proceeds to put the steak on my plate, however by this time, I didn’t even really want the steak, but I went ahead and let him put the steak on my plate. As this was Mother’s Day, I didn’t want to cause too much of a fuss so I didn’t say anything now I didn’t eat it because it looked too overcooked. As far as the food taste all the food did taste good had good flavor. So will I be back to this restaurant, probably. I will give them a second chance, but that’s all I give a restaurant is a second chance. I was very disappointed in my Mother’s Day meal not being cooked to my specifications, even when the cook confirmed how I wanted my steak cooked.
The staff clearly knew it was my daughter’s birthday. She was wearing a birthday sash, was given a light-up birthday crown by the restaurant, and the chef personally told her happy birthday during the meal. Despite this, our table received no birthday acknowledgment while others around us did.
After everyone in my party had already paid and some guests had begun to leave, I felt uncomfortable and singled out, especially since we were the only people of color in the establishment. I asked to speak with the manager. It took a long time for him to come out, but when the waiter mentioned that one of the teenagers supposedly hadn’t paid, the manager appeared immediately.
When I raised my concerns, the manager, Bao, claimed that a birthday plate had been “in the fridge ready,” which did not make sense given that our checks were closed and guests were already leaving. Only after the issue was brought up did they attempt to bring out the drum, which felt like an afterthought rather than a sincere gesture.
When I expressed that the situation felt discriminatory, the manager accused me of being racist and threatened to call the police. When I asked to speak to someone higher than him, he stated there was no one else.
Additionally, when we asked our waiter for to-go boxes, he rolled his eyes and passed the task to another employee instead of assisting us.
This experience was embarrassing, dismissive, and completely inappropriate — especially during a child’s birthday celebration. No family should be made to feel unwelcome or disrespected. We will not be returning.
The calamari is not good. Idk if it’s real. It’s got a weird shape and texture. It would be better if it was in rings instead of nuggets like they do.
Alcohol mixed drinks container little fluid for the price.
Everything else is great!
I only ate a little and asked for the rest to go because I lost my appetite. I actually like this place because the food is good, but the service this time was really poor.
Duygu and Jo are amazing to talk to and the staff is well chosen, friendly, polite, professional and always helpful and attentive.
The sushis were fresh and the fried calamari was such a positive surprise, taking the time to make for high quality, texture and taste.
I would recommend a few things but definitely try the fried calamari! It is unlike any other place.
