Reviews
Once seated we were greeted by an amazing staff person Ben. Ben’s description of the food was top notch. We struggled to make menu decisions because he made everything sound so delicious.
We chose the succulent crab cakes for starters. The remoulade and greens on the plate definitely set them off. They were very hardy compared to other crab cakes I’ve had. The two could definitely be an entree. I had the lamb strip because Ben stated it was a “steak lovers lamb” and I am also a steak lover. The char on the lamb was over the top! If I were to give a critique I would say scale back the sauce so the lamb itself can shine. I also ordered the delicious caesar salad the crumbled croutons were the highlight over big chunks of bread in my salad, and the mashed potatoes with the steak butter added and the steak mushrooms on the side. I tried the El Diablo drink which was good but a little too sweet for my taste.
My guy ordered the ribeye steak which he said had a great char with the spices. He had fries with it which were fresh and crispy.
Right as our meal got good a storm came through and since we were seated in the back covered patio area, Ben and another staff person let us know they wanted to move us to keep us from getting wet. The area were were sitting leaks when it rains. Ben told us it was the struggle of a 100 year old building.
We swiftly moved and appreciated their concern for our dining experience. The room unfortunately leaked a lot which is the only reason I didn’t give this review 5 stars. Although the leaks weren’t their fault, it did dim the experience a bit. However, Ben brought us a cookie al a mode dessert as a consolation gift and I appreciated the gesture.
Ben was not the typical server, he was inviting, humorous, he can definitely read the room. I watched him juggle several tables and treated each group as if they were VIP. His attentive service and knowledge of the menu mad ethe experience so much better. I definitely suggest asking for him if you go visit.
The bone marrow fries are a “must”. It is a huge serving, enough for 4 people to share, and SOOOOO good!!
I had fish tacos, which were excellent, and fresh, not frozen. My friend had the beef Manhattan which could have fed two lumberjacks! She took half home, and was happy about getting to have it for another meal. Service was good…plenty attentive without being intrusive.
This is really a treat of a restaurant. We will definitely be going back.
foxGardin Kitchen & Ale served up some seriously delicious food – our table was thoroughly impressed! The menu’s diverse offerings had something for everyone, and the flavors were consistently on point.
Highlights:
– Exceptional Food: Tasty dishes across the board, with standout flavors and quality ingredients
– Amazing Service: Melanie, our server, made our anniversary truly special with her attentive and warm service
– Atmosphere: A cozy, inviting ambiance perfect for a night out
Constructive Feedback:
– Bone Marrow Fries: Currently feature a balsamic vinegar-soused coating that overpowers the bone marrow flavor. Previous recipe fans (like me) miss the original taste. A suggestion: offer a choice at ordering – balsamic vinegar topping or a more neutral option – to please both camps.
Recommendation: A great spot for a meal out, especially with attentive servers like Melanie enhancing the experience. If you’re a fan of their bone marrow fries as they used to be, you might be hoping for a recipe tweak or customization option soon!
