This was delightful experience. Oussama service was top quality. We ate there for our Daughter’s birthday. The food was awesome, tasty & abundant! We had great wine, the staff sang a birthday song that we will remember for a long time. The music & the cozy ambiance contribute to the great night. The price was great comparing to the overall experience.

Awesome restaurant in the heart of the Old City. Reviews don’t lie! You must visit if you find yourself in Essaouira. It’s better to go here for lunch when it’s almost empty with a few diners rather than try up find a spot at dinner time.
I ordered the Pina Colada Mojito, Sea Bream Ceviche and the catch of the day/Sea Bass. The main entree came with two big pieces of fish fillets that was quite filling. I also tried the brava sauce from Spain or the spicy salsa brava to dip the fish in.
Overall very friendly service, excellent Moroccan decor and nice ambiance.
Recommend 10/10

04/10/2025 : I had an amazing experience at Dar Baba Restaurant ! The food is truly next-level , big portions and wonderfully creative. I ordered the sea bass and the crust was perfectly crisp, served with the fluffiest mashed potatoes and a delicious creamy sauce. The baked camembert appetizer with rosemary was also a must-try! Beyond the food, the decor is absolutely stunning. It’s so vibrant and eclectic, with that beautiful green ceiling, gorgeous Moroccan-style mirrors, and all the art. The atmosphere is cozy, artistic, and just a joy to be in. Great food, big value, and unforgettable ambiance. Highly recommend!

This place has very nice vibe.
Lamb fish was amazing, catch of the day was good but a bit too dry.
Quit a few things from the menu were not available, one of them – octopus – my reason to come. Classic margarita was made with lemon juice and not lime (made quite a bit difference in the taste), was still good.

We arrived in Essaoira very late tonight looking for a place that could welcome us. We were happy to find Dar Baba Restaurant . The staff is attentive, kind and polite (Zakaria was looking after our table) and the food is delicious. We took the monkfish tajine, the lamb shoulder and the octopus. My favorite was the octopus, and my least favorite was the tajine. The atmosphere is cozy and curated, with some very stylish details. I loved the Zafferano push up table lamp – will look into it for my home :))) we had a great dinner, thank you!!

I was having dinner yesterday in Dar Baba and it was an amazing experience. The food is so good and the staff make you feel like at home Khadija gave me the welcome in a super good English and she show me the whole place, Hassan was also so good and Zacarias was my waiter, he was very professional and careful with me and I enjoy with his sense of humor. Later I took a coktel at the bar I gave them the choice to surprise me. And they did with the Medina special coktel. What a fantasy

We were drawn in by the interior design and ambience, which admittedly is very well done, and the many glowing reviews. We wanted to enjoy one relatively “fancy” dinner and a break from tagine near the end of our Moroccan vacation. Our experience was utter disappointment.

6:31pm: Sat down
6:43pm: Placed order
7:34pm: Food arrives
8:17pm: Paid and left

We ordered the sea bream ceviche starter that was delivered an hour later along with the mains: braised lamb shoulder and black ink prawn paella. The disappointment stems from waiting about an hour for the food to arrive. Meanwhile, two paellas showed up at two tables immediately adjacent; both parties arrived 15 min and 30 min after us. Two charming ladies from London captured the attention of our waiter who spent most of his time flirting with them. They were the party that sat down 30 min after us and ordered their main course, ate, ordered dessert, paid, and left well before we were able to finish our meal. When I brought up the service discrepancy to both the waiter and payment processor (maitre d?), they responded “this happens sometimes,” “our ordering system had a technical issue,”and “if you come back tomorrow we’ll make it up to you.” For a place charging 300+ MAD per head in Morocco, you’d expect at a bare minimum an apology. Nope. We received excuses and abject apathy.

Spend your precious vacation time elsewhere or don’t show up with an appetite, unless you really want to admire the decor. It’ll be a feast for your eyes, not for your stomach.

Atmosphere & décor: Many visitors love the unique, vintage-inspired interior with vibrant colors and varied spaces on different floors — creates a cozy yet stylish vibe.
Friendly service: Staff are described as welcoming, helpful and attentive.
Delicious food: Guests often highlight fresh seafood, flavorful starters, well-prepared mains and creative dishes. Some favorites like sea bass and baked camembert were specifically recommended.
Cocktails: The cocktail menu Argan Sour is mentioned as a fun complement to the meal.
Ambience: Live music or a lively vibe makes it feel like more than just a dinner spot — more like a memorable evening.
