Reviews
We were traveling from Little Rock to Kansas City and stopped in Joplin for lunch and Mythos was absolutely the right choice. We ordered a little of everything, and every dish was incredible.
Appetizers:
• Sashimi: fresh, clean, tender, and beautifully presented. A light, perfect start.
• Saganaki: Rich, gooey, salty perfection with that classic tableside flame. A must-order if you love cheese.
• Steak Fondue: One of our favorites of the entire meal. Tender steak with a rich, savory fondue sauce. So good we’d order it again immediately.
Entrées:
• Lamb Chops: Perfectly seasoned and tender with great char flavor. Restaurant-quality and generously portioned.
• Fettuccine Alfredo with Shrimp: Creamy, silky Alfredo and perfectly cooked shrimp — comforting and delicious.
• Beef Vesuvius: Bold and hearty with a deep, savory sauce. Full of flavor and very satisfying. If you love a good balsamic sauce, I’d pick this.
Desserts:
• Crème Brûlée: Perfect crack on top with a smooth, velvety vanilla custard. Simple and flawless.
• Chocolate Layer Cake: Rich, moist, and decadent without being overly sweet. And very fresh berries. Chocolate lovers will be happy.
• Tiramisu: Light, creamy, and beautifully balanced with espresso and mascarpone. Honestly this was my absolute favorite.
Everything we had was outstanding. Mythos exceeded our expectations in every way.
If you’re passing through Joplin, this place is absolutely worth the stop. We will definitely be back!
FOOD: I don’t even remember what my wife got (lol) but it was some Greek food. She really like it but it’s not something I would have enjoyed. It was different (reference the picture) and she likes new stuff. Me? I had a hamburger with bacon. I prob should have got a steak but was in the mood for a good hamburger. Whereas the burger was good, it was not over the top. It was near overdone. Maybe I should have upgraded to the Kobe burger. I’d try something different next time. Little disappointed here as I was figuring a great burger at an upscale restaurant.
SERVICE: I’ll just say the bigger group next to us got better and quicker service than we did. Our waiter wasn’t overwhelmed (from what we could see) but was much slower. Our food was ordered first and the other group’s came out first. Maybe your server will be better.
ATMOSPHERE: This is set up as a high-end steak house (or restaurant). From the outside to the inside, it prepares you for an up town meal. The place was nice and clean and we were seated very professionally. The prices surprised us. They do not reflect a high end facility. Steaks are more expensive but a Kobe burger is $17 and the others are cheaper. Great prices.
All in all, I would prob go back should I be traveling through Joplin (which we do a cpl times a year). I’d just order something different and hope I get a different server. Don’t drool over my water. I get that everywhere I go.
We got right in and seated during weekday lunch hours. Our food came quickly, and the server (Damon, I think) was as he should be.
We’ll definitely come again and we recommended it. Thanks!
