Our long smoked meats, hand-crafted sides and mixed signature cocktails, sets us apart from any other BBQ restaurant in the San Francisco Bay Area. Owner Paul Reddick isn’t cutting any corners. He and his wife Jessica insist on hand-made food done right.

I visited at lunchtime for a work lunch. Small group of 5, we were seated immediately at a large round table.
Pepsi-based soda and unsweetened iced tea available. Plenty combo plates options.
I ordered a lean brisket combo with corn bread and fries. In hindsight, I probably should have chosen sometime less fried as they were quite oily. The brisket was offered to be either lean or fatty. The lean slices I received were quite tender and easy to bite, no butter knife needed.
We ordered a sampler plate for the table. The burnt ends were drenched in a sticky sweet sauce. Quite good, actually.
Food arrived fairly quickly as the place wasn’t that full. My table said that the chicken quarter was a little dry in some places. Brisket, pulled pork, and ribs are all very solidly flavored and well liked.
Good option for lunch for a group that doesn’t need vegetarian options.
Seating:
There were several booths nearby (for 4 or less people) as well as smaller tables. Lighting inside was somewhat dim in the middle of the room, likely brighter near windows.
Drink:
Soda refills took a little while to find someone, but the cups are large and didn’t need many refills. Water refills were quick.
Parking:
Free lot in the plaza shared with several other customers.
As you can see from the Photo, I had a two-meat combo. Brisket and Pulled Pork. While I would rate my experience a solid 3.5 stars, the platform constraints mean I’ll round it up to 4 stars.
The brisket was a delightful surprise, tender and flavorful. It’s clear why this is a favorite among patrons. The pulled pork was tender and juicy and a smoky taste. It’s the kind of quality you’d expect from a place renowned for its authentic, Southern-style BBQ. Meaning, it’s close, but not the same.
After indulging in the smoky delights of BBQ at The Smoking Pig, I decided to treat myself to their banana pudding for dessert. It was a decision well made. The pudding was exceptionally creamy, with a rich banana flavor that wasn’t overpowering. The homemade quality was evident, with just the right amount of sweetness to complement the savory meal. It’s a classic Southern dessert done right. I’m happy to give it a well-deserved 4 stars.
In summary, The Smoking Pig BBQ did a good job for Freemont, CA offering BBQ with their brisket and pulled pork, making it a suggested-try for BBQ enthusiasts. Whether you’re dining in or ordering out, their commitment to quality shines through.
The whole place is warm and inviting.Everyone is so nice.I’ve had the pleasure of working with Drew the last 3 times I’ve gone and he has always great, very nice super helpful.Greets you with a welcome and a smile when you walk in the door and helps you quickly , which is always appreciated. This place is great good food good price good environment and nice people
I’ll leave it at that.
Very bad service, not many customers, but still got ignored most of time. Took about 5 mins to be seated, more than 10 mins to order, no water refill at all.
Some appetizers are delicious. However, BBQ and smoked meat were too dry, and I have to agree with another comment “my smoker works better”, actually much better.
It might be still ok to have some beer with some appetizers, but I do not recommend this place for a formal dinner.
