I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was unacceptable.
On 2/27/26 around 10:00 PM at Wendy’s Store #5283 in Beltsville, MD, I witnessed extremely concerning food safety practices. While waiting at the drive-thru window for my drinks, the employee preparing them sneezed and coughed directly into her hands. She then wiped her nose with the back of her hand and continued handling beverages without washing or sanitizing.
I politely asked if she could wash her hands before finishing my order. Instead of correcting the issue, she rolled her eyes and walked toward the food prep area. I asked another employee to ensure she did not handle my food without washing her hands, but my concern was ignored. When I repeated my request, I was met with hostility and profanity in Spanish.
I also observed another employee working behind the counter with a small toddler present in the food preparation area, which raised additional health and safety concerns.
When I asked for a refund due to the unsanitary conditions, the manager took the food from my hands and shut the window. She then returned to the window to tell me that because it was a mobile order, I would need to contact customer service for a refund. There was no attempt to address the sanitation issue or resolve the matter professionally.
Food safety and basic hygiene should never be negotiable. The lack of accountability and the hostile response made this experience extremely disappointing. I hope management and corporate leadership take this seriously and review sanitation and staff training at this location.

Manager decided to close the store at 8pm! I placed an online order, I called the restaurant because the door was locked and asked could they just bring the food out. They responded “no inside is closed you have to wait in the drive through”. There were about 15 cars already in the drive through!! Terrible team and terrible nangagement!

It took over 30 minutes for my order. I asked the cashier for an estimate of when my food would be done and she was rude and dismissive. During the half hour of my life spent waiting at this location, I watched over 20 orders being filled. When I was able to get the managers attention to ask about my order, she turned around to her 8 employees and yelled at them about skipping my order. If you are looking for a somewhere to waste half the day, this is your place. If you want a burger quickly, McDonald’s is down the street.

So there’s a 53 cents extra “charge’ for a side of BBQ sauce lol which is ridiculous enough… But yet I have to park my car and go inside to get the rest of my order that you forgot and get my own straws and napkins. Can my knees charge 53 cents for that? What’s the 53 cents worth to you knowing I’ll never come back over something so stupid? The service to value ratio is way off at this location. I don’t think Dave would approve. You won’t get this from Chick Fil-A or even the worst McDonald’s location. Oh… And take your stupid mask off, it’s almost 2026.

I’ve waited on food multiple times now. This time, the food came out faster but I received a burger instead of the chicken sandwich I ordered. Everything is a lot worse than in the past, no barbecue sauce here even. Don’t recommend.

My usual go-to Wendys. Always get served amazing and delicious food.
Several notes I will add, service is pretty good BUT I asked for spicy nuggets and sometimes will recieve normal crispy nuggets, which isn’t too bad but definitely not what I asked for.
Atmosphere is pretty nice and clean most of the time, although I do prefer the style back during the 2010-15s.
Overall, definitely not a terrible location. Would come back over and over again!

Beware ordering fried chicken or fish from this particular location. More often than not, you’ll get overcooked and rock hard results.
