Go and support a local while enjoying some awesome tacos and quesadillas! Went tonight for the first time because my niece swears by this place. We ordered a variety of tacos (al pastor, barbacoa, cochinillo pibil, beef) and ended up with a chicken quesadilla in lieu of lengua which had run out. Everything was served hot and delicious, along with optional green and red salsa. Javier was an attentive and informative host – really sweet and spent some time talking with us. Thanks, too, to Elmer who was manning the griddle. I’m embarrassed to admit that everything smelled to delicious when Javier delivered it to our table that we didn’t take any food pictures. Go. My fiancée and I just had the most incredible experience at Taqueria El Jardin Tropical, and I am already counting down the minutes until we can go back. This place is an absolute gem, and I can’t recommend it highly enough!
We ordered the barbacoa quesadilla, and it was simply divine. The barbacoa was unbelievably tender and flavorful, packed into a perfectly grilled tortilla with an amazing amount of delicious, gooey cheese. Every single bite was pure perfection.
But the highlight of our visit was something truly special. On a whim, we asked if they could possibly make a California burrito, even though we didn’t see it on the menu. Not only did the owner graciously agree, but he crafted what is, without a doubt, the BEST California burrito I have ever had in my life. It was loaded with perfectly seasoned meat, crispy fries, and all the right fixings. It was a flavor masterpiece!
The kindness and willingness of the owner to go above and beyond for us was just as memorable as the phenomenal food. You can truly feel the passion and care they put into their cooking and their customers.
If you are looking for authentic, mind-blowingly delicious Mexican food and genuinely wonderful service, you absolutely MUST visit Taqueria El Jardin Tropical. They have earned customers for life in us!

Great Food, fantastic service, lovely atmosphere. Once you step into this tropical garden, you won’t go elsewhere. If you are on the fence, don’t be! We passed up 3 other taco trucks to get here and I’m so glad we did. Authentic. Carnitas are legit, definitely a favorite. We also tried Carne Asada, shrimp, and chicken, it was ALL delicious. Don’t miss this hidden gem in Galveston.
