Never would have assumed I’d be writing a negative review for Jalapeños, but figured I’d share for those debating on where to eat.
I’ve come here for years, but they’ve recently updated menus and prices, along with portions. (No issue there, as the cost of things has gone up. You have to either raise costs or cut portions, realistically.). However, the last two times I’ve been has been a disappointment. Last time was a weekday lunch and they refused to correct a price they put in incorrectly. (Was annoyed, but not the norm, so we moved on.)
Today, we went back with the family and the picture attached is a Presidente Fajita for One. It doesn’t look like a bad portion size, but considering you can go across the street and get double that for almost $10 cheaper is crazy. For those coming here for quite some time, I was very surprised that the items went up by $7 and dropped half the portion size at the same time. I have 3 stars simply because we’ve always had decent service here, but just know that you may be surprised on your next visit.

This is my second time being here and I love it. The atmosphere is great, the food good, there’s plenty to go around. And you will always have leftovers.

Complimentary chips and salsa. Chips have good flavor salsa good queso is $5 for a small and we hardly put a dent in it… it was tasty though sopapillas $2 ea…I’d pass on these Beans Rice is meh Ground beef is good Ranchera sauce Guac Pico Chimichanga Overall the food is good Service… she didn’t bother to check on us but was easy to stop her walking past to ask for things we needed Atmosphere kinda crowded, kinda smokey from all the fajitas ( eyes kinda burned the whole time in there, ventilation could use some work ) Would eat here over Panaderia Villegas. We’ll be back for sure to try out some other things.

This is an outdated restaurant. The sign is old, made it appear like it wasn’t in business. There is a breakfast place Magnolia across the street, that place had full parking so we came here instead, I’m glad we did. Salsas have a good spicy kick to them, nachos are a good portion, great flavor, and the beans taste homemade, not from a can. Beef and chicken fajitas with grilled veggies/onions are a good portion, too. We couldn’t finish it, so we had leftovers. Chips are fresh, I’m assuming they make them there. They didn’t taste like the tortilla chips that are sold in a bag. We will be going back again to try the frozen margaritas.

Had a poor experience last night. Usually, I get what I ask for and I am very grateful even when I don’t. But last night was New Year’s Eve and I was with my husband for a night dinner. I asked for Enchiladas with verde sauce, and white shredded cheese on top. I’m expecting corn tortillas, Verde sauce and white cheese. Okay, it comes back with flour tortillas, steak in it, but the toppings were perfect. Unfortunately I was expecting shredded chicken, so I sent it back and bless her heart, but I don’t believe the waitress understood what I wanted because it comes back with fajita chicken and queso on top. That was NOT what I wanted. Mainly, I just did not feel seen or heard. I know this restaurant is not authentic, and the enchiladas I had were in Bandera Texas. Enchiladas Verdes. I just wanted a similar vibe. It’s not their fault but they need to get new waitresses and maybe cooks who are Latina. I don’t want flour people enchiladas.

Jalapeños has a lot of great food. We tend to get the dinner fajitas made double and easily share with a family of 4 to five. The salsa is delicious as well as the chips. The spacing is cramped, but serviceable. The atmosphere is eh.

Absolutely love this place we here at least two time a week. The food is great and the margaritas are great as well I just wish they would do something about the flies. Other than that this place is our number one go to!! I left this review a little while back since this review some of the wait staff has changed some of them are so rude “especially the thin blonde girl” they have no customer service skills all they want to do is sit at the booth by the cash register and socialize and act irritated when you’re trying to pay your bill. Apparently they have no supervision now and it shows. not i would recommend this place for that reason now!!!!

This place is great, now with that said it is a small place that’s been there for a very long time,and could use some new seating. The food is amazing, you get what you pay for. If you’re looking for a place to eat Mexican food this is the place. Make sure you bring your appetite because when they bring your food to the table your eyes are going to get big lol, because you’re going to ask yourself is that what I ordered. WOW. Bring me a to go box please, What you thought was a meal just became lunch for tomorrow too. That’s what I like about this place. The food is great, service was fast and friendly, and you don’t leave feeling like you just got robbed. Go try it for yourself.
