Last Sunday me, cutter, and Miles, decided to go up to blacksmith lounge in Hugo Minnesota. Are server was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu and drinks. I had the horseshoe Burger which was perfectly cooked medium lots of flavor. Very good burger. Miles had the fish fish and chips and after he saw my burger he wished he would have ordered the burger. He did like his fish and chips though. Cutter had the broasted chicken and ribs Sunday night special he said it was excellent. The whole time we were there having dinner they were sending tons of to go food out the door. To go food is a big part of their sales. All in all a really good time at blacksmith lounge.

Wow!!! Fabulous lady at the front door greeted and seated us. Kathryn was our server and was so friendly and amazing. The husband got the broasted chicken and I got the fish and chips. Excellent. Came out hot and fresh. Bloody Mary was good. Great experience and we will be back. Highly recommended. Reasonable prices, plenty of parking. Get there before 5 or you will wait for a table. The line was out the door when we left.

Noon. Larger inside than expected. We both had 2 piece chicken. Excellent hashbrowns, crispy around the edges with a pat of butter on top. Never saw that before. I had dark meat and instead of 2, I was given 3 pieces. Great chicken. Spaghetti Special also sounded good.I see there are daily specials. Nice. Glad we stopped in. Pink lemonade. I liked, but very sweet.

Seeing that this place was highly rated and we were close to Hugo MN, we decided to give it a try. We had a twenty minute wait before being seated and were able to take a look around and could see this place had the Nostalgic old barn look and feel. They had one beer on tap Coors, which was close to my youthful drink (Coors Light) it was smooth and a little flat but I had two. I asked the waitress what the thought was between the shrimp dinner and the pork ribs and she stated a lot of people come in for the ribs, so I ordered them. It took about twenty five minutes to get our food. First was our salads, my wife had a house and I had coleslaw the salad had goldfish crackers for croutons, which may be a go-to for me from now on. And they brought my slaw as well… didn’t expect it separately but it was good. The ribs came a little bit later and I could see that it appeared the bones were set on top of the meat and bbq sauce poured over the top. There was zero meat on the bones some like it this way, but isn’t that part of having ribs, eating it off the bones? Meat was super tender (which is better than tough) but thay were good/alright. Baked potato was small but good, as was the bread. My wife had the ground round steak (hamburger patty) she said it was alright/good as well.
The place was busy, and understaffed, which makes the greeters and servers not as friendly as I’d expect with a small western venue. Nobody smiled… even once.
If you like the actual rustic barn feel and ok with a place that needs some TLC money put back into the business then this place may be for you.
I’d drive by and say it was alright, we should have tried the Broaster Chicken, and we may in the future.

Me and my husband went and ate dinner here he had the broasted chicken and I had the deep fried shrimp,there meals are at a great price and get alot for your meal it was delicious. They have breakfast also and serve specials every day of the week. We will definitely go back here and eat dinner again great prices and service I highly recommend anyone to eat dinner here.was 1st time in many years since eating dinner here. Had a great time. They have a kids menu as well.

Very genuinely friendly environment. In my opinion all bar burgers taste the same but Blacksmith Lounge’s Horseshoe Burger was actually one of the best I’ve had in quite a while. The bartender told me that they have goldfish on their salads though. Might try that one at home and see how it goes.

Lunch specials! Community programs & events! Delicious broasted chicken! It’s not the fanciest (nor the worst) spot along Highway 61, but serves good food at reasonable prices.
