When I don’t know what to eat I go to Gigio’s! Chill place in Evanston, the crew is pretty friendly and they work hard. I always go for the single slices for a quick lunch. The classic cheese pizza never misses either, their dough is perfect just make sure to ask for extra baking time if you want it crispier. They also do fire birria tacos! The whole menu is great you’ll always find something good here

We went for a group event and ordered 3 extra large pizzas. Pizza was NY style; piping hot and foldable. The sauce was good, the crust was chewy but not tough. The place is super casual and serves pizza by the slice.

Well I had high hopes. I used to come here years ago and it was great! I grab a slice when I came back from the beach and that would be my dinner. And it was delicious.
This was anything but. After I gave the man my money I was able to see over the counter. There was four pizzas literally sitting out in the open uncovered completely dried out. I thought there’s no way that this is going to be what my slices are coming from. Sadly it was.
These dried out pies were uncovered, able to collect dust dirt and spit from anyone that was talking around them. Don’t even get me started in the cleanliness of the place.
I thought maybe looks are deceiving and it’ll be better than I thought. He had put the pizzas to reheat them in the pizza oven. So I thought maybe we have a chance.
Absolute tasteless garbage! The slices were completely undercooked and soggy. Please notice the pictures I took. The vegetarian slice had caramelized onions on it. Who puts caramelized onions on pizza?? You could clearly Taste of the vegetables were not fresh. It was about the only thing you could taste. The rest of it was Bland tasteless junk. Absolutely no flavor to the sauce, the cheese was nondescript and dried out.
After seeing different reviews I could see that whoever owns or manages the place thinks he’s funny and likes to have little quips and comments for any negative review. I think you should save the time from commenting, and instead apply that energy and effort to creating better tasting pies. This place is horrible. I threw both pieces out. Massive disappointment.

Evanston institution. Perfect pizza joint in downtown Evanston. Great place to grab a quick slice. They have great option of non pizza food too, love their tacos! Always quick and efficient service.

We’ve been coming to Gigio’s for over 40 years. It was always a staple place to get a slice of fantastic pizza. Great memories from our young dating days.

We’ve been so disappointed the past 2 times We’ve been here. We now live an hr away now but still like to visit our old stomping ground. We’ve noticed that the pizza slices are now super greasy (we had to use a ton of napkins to blot the grease) and very soggy. Don’t know if they changed the crust recipe or don’t bake the pizza long enough or what. The restaurant itself is pretty dirty. It’s never been super clean, but it’s worse than ever. Dirty tables, garbage cans covered in dirty food and grime, bathroom hallway stinks and ceiling leaking all over.

The employees are fine but the customers are pretty mean and rude. Aside from that the pizza slices I got were hard as bricks. Barely any sauce and the cheese looked like it’d been on the pizza for a few hours. It’s also way too expensive for what you’re paying for too. If I want a slice I’ll just get one from Desalvos or Rosatis and I don’t plan on paying for something from here again.

Would gotten 5 stars.
Ordered a beef and got a sausage.
Still tasty! Have to eat the slice fresh.
I don’t think it has changed since my first slice in the early 70’s. Wow Wow Wow!

Unfortunately, today was a completely different experience. I waited about 12 minutes for a fresh slice, but when I got to the car and took a bite, the pizza was soggy, the crust literally fell apart, and the inside was cold. The cheese and pepperoni still felt like they had just come out of the freezer. It wasn’t just soft from being hot — it was genuinely cold and undercooked. I even felt like I was getting a stomachache just from that bite.

What makes it worse is that I literally ended up throwing away seven dollars into the garbage, because honestly, that’s what they sold me — garbage. I’m really disappointed because Gigio’s is usually reliable and has always delivered great pizza for me. Hopefully, this was just a one-off bad day, because I’d hate to think this is the new standard for a place that’s been one of my go-tos.

Old school pizza joint that is so delicious. They probably have the best pizza by the slice in Chicagoland area. Also their tacos are very good too. They’re not traditional style but American style with lettuce tomato and cheese but they still hold their own very well. Must have and highly recommended if you’re in Evanston !!

This is a pizzeria that can accommodate a fair number of dine-in customers. The service is pretty quick and the food delicious. A great neighborhood place to eat. The prices are reasonable and parking should not be a problem. It is also located within walking distance of the Davis El station.
