I live out of state and every time I’m in town I have to stop at Red Rocks. The food is always delicious and the service is impeccable. The manager always treats us with kindness and Spencer, our server, goes above and beyond to make our evenings special. Grateful for this establishment. Will be coming back again and again.

Excellent experience!! Food was great! Staff was above and beyond! I’m new in town and this is my first time here and I must say, I’ll be back again and again, because I’m left with wanting to try everything on the menu!
I got a dirty martini, filet and lobster. And my parter got a filet with coconut shrimp. All superb!
We took 3 different desserts home and happy we did!
Thank you Red Rocks staff for an excellent first experience. You now have a regular.
And might I add, this is a family owned establishment, not a chain. Kudos to you all!

Here’s a quick review of my experience at this high-end cafe-restaurant. The service was decent, especially since the place was packed to the brim, but the atmosphere really let it down — I guess that’s out of their control.

The food portions were pretty small for the price, which made it hard to fully enjoy the meal. Those crab cakes were delicious but only three tiny ones for $18 felt kind of overpriced. I’m curious about what’s going on Wednesday nights there because it was way too crowded.

I’m willing to give it another shot, just not on a Wednesday night. Maybe we’ll check it out during the daytime on a weekday next time.

We had an amazing meal at Red Rock Café! The New Orleans–style shrimp and grits were outstanding—perfectly spicy with rich flavor and just the right kick. The creamy grits balanced the sauce beautifully. We also loved the blackened seafood salad with goat cheese—it was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. Great balance of spice, texture, and freshness all around. Highly recommend for anyone craving bold Southern flavors done right!

Today was our first time visiting. We made a reservation on Open Table, but it was pretty empty when we got there. It was very sweet when we entered the restaurant they said Happy birthday to my hubby, as I put it on the online reservation. When we sat down at our table there was a Happy 60th Birthday sign, such a beautiful touch.

The waitress was really nice. We ordered drinks, then appetizers and the dinner. Things moved pretty fast because it was not crowded. The food was pretty good and the sizes were good portions. The Chicken Marsala was smothered in sauce. A little bit too much (photo) but it still tasted good. My husband’s stuffed flounder was really good.

The only thing that took off from the 5 star review was when the waitress put down the plates for the appetizers, 2 of them were dirty with ketchup on the bottom. That was a little off putting. She immediately apologized and took them away and got new plates, but at this point the ketchup was on our table that we had to wipe.

Also, my tea was empty for about 20 minutes because we could not track down the waitress to get a refill. She has a big party she was working with so we understand, but that kind of stuff should be watched always and if not by the waitress then staff.

They do take Veteran’s discount so that was very kind. I think the total was around $165 with tip for 3 cocktails, 1 Ice tea, 2 appetizers and 3 meals. So I feel the prices were on par with other restaurants.

I think we might come back for more of a casual vibe one day, but not for a special occasion. I guess the restaurant does not do anything special for birthdays (like a happy birthday cookie or anything). Overall, a decent meal was had and some fun drinks.

We had the full turkey and ham Thanksgiving dinner with cranberry, Cornbread stuffing green beans, and also chocolate cake and coconut cake. Our server was good but we had to wait a very long time to get seated. Fortunately our server was good. The food was very good and plentiful and also the decorations

Thursday night was not busy so we got seated without a wait. We chose the outside covered patio area but the flies were an issue. The wine was good. Our server said that the porck chop special had good reviews, so I ordered that. It was juicy but overcooked. My wife had the seafood salad which she enjoyed.

I went here for my birthday. We sat on the patio terrace. I liked that the terrace was heated and cooled. It was a nice day but the temp started to drop. The heat was promptly turned on which warmed us up quick.
I had the kale salad as an appetizer and the lemon herb chicken as my meal. It was delicious and seasoned to perfection. Only downside I have a shellfish allergy and do not eat any seafood. I do not like the taste of seafood. They fry everything in the same grease. I was disappointed I could not eat the tortilla chips and spinach queso dip because the chips were fried in the same grease as the seafood. I would probably go again and stick with the salads and pan cooked food.

Had a wonderful lunch for me staff today at Red Rocks Cafe. We were served by Matthew who was very attentive, answered all our questions and made great menu recommendations! He was great! The food was delicious! The only drawback … we were seated in an outdoor but enclosed area with nice toasty heaters and I think they turned the heaters off when we were seated. My feet were a little chilly when we left.

Red Rocks was mentioned a few times in the Charlotte Foodies Facebook group, I figured I’d try it out.

Service
I was greeted by Erin at the entrance pastry case, who was friendly and quick to seat me. My waiter Garrett was attentive, helpful, and didn’t even flinch when I asked too many questions about the sides like I was taking a pop quiz.

Starter
I ordered a cup of She Crab Soup to start. It comes with a drizzle of sherry on top and a packet of saltines, classy and nostalgic at the same time. While it doesn’t quite top the She Crab Soup at Eddie’s Place, it definitely puts up a solid fight. Let’s call it the Pepsi to Eddie’s Coke.

Main Course
I went with the ½ rack of ribs. They were fall-off-the-bone tender, coated in a sticky, sweet sauce with just a hint of heat. Not quite a Carolina reaper situation, more like a polite tap on the shoulder. I didn’t need any extra sauce and found myself going full caveman, cleaning each bone like it owed me money.

The wild rice risotto was good. Cheesy, flavorful, and a smarter side choice than baked beans if you don’t want to fall asleep by 9. Sweet potato fries were fine. Definitely the standard frozen kind, but they served their purpose.

Dessert
I didn’t have room for dessert, but I took a slice of Oreo cheesecake to go. It’s made by Queen City Pastry in Mooresville, and based on past experience, it’s probably going to ruin my self-control later tonight.

Overall Vibe
Red Rocks is the kind of place that works for nearly any occasion. The menu is huge: burgers, pasta, steaks, seafood, salads. You could bring your picky aunt, your steak-loving cousin, or your friend who only eats chicken fingers. It’s casual, but the food is better than you’d expect from a place this broad.

Solid experience overall. And as for Aqua e Vino, lock your doors and update your voicemail. Some of us are out here hungry.
