Okay I love cafe Rio have been going for years now, but every so often the change and try out a new thing. This felt like they were trying to be cool-nonchalant version of Chipotle with new signs, and smaller sizes.

FOOD: Food was tasty and if you like sauce then you’ll love it here. Lots of it and great tasting. However portion sizes are smaller especially for the reflected cost I paid.
AREA: It’s clean in there. Kitchen, soda area, tables, and bathroom all clean. New menu sign feel tacky though.
WORKERS: Pretty chill, patient, and always working on something.

Best cafe rio I’ve ever gone too! Legit best service got treated well and most importantly the food. The guy there don’t know his name give him a raise! He loaded my nachos didn’t even ask for extra. He made them just right gots to give credit. Also the cashier register lady treated me amazing as well overall good place to eat at!

I haven’t followed Cafe Rio corporation to know if/what has changed, but over the past year the menu has changed and they no longer offer rice & beans as part of the meal. Some menu items have been discontinued with emphasis on their bowls. Portions seem smaller while prices seem higher, and what once made them special seems to now be gone.

Why does it seem like instead of being an innovator they are now trying to follow Chipotle’s lead? I used to think Chipotle had no chance against Cafe Rio, now I find myself going there more often as they are next to each other.

I’m dissapointed in what once seemed to be a different kind of fast casual dining experience.

This was one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve had at Cafe Rio. The staff barely spoke up while taking my order, making it almost impossible to clearly hear or confirm what selections they were asking about. Because of that, my burrito ended up wrong. I could have asked for an entirely new one, but I’m not someone who likes to waste food, so I just paid for it and left annoyed.

On top of that, the staff was clearly not on task. Multiple employees were on their phones, including the cashier, which is completely unacceptable in a customer-facing role. It gave the impression that no one cared about accuracy, efficiency, or customer service.

Overall, this location felt disorganized, inattentive, and unprofessional. I was not pleased at all and don’t plan on returning anytime soon.

Its very unprofessional when the employee who is making your food is communicating everything you get to the cashier because she doesn’t understand fluent English? On top of that they charged me extra for gauc when all I asked was for gauc and chips and we obviously couldn’t figure why I was being charged extra due to the cashier having that language barrier. I also don’t like how they charge extra for smothering sauce inside my burrito when that was the original enchilada style and then you guys changed it

This place had me laughing, they are offering a free drink if you take a survey for them,,, wait, they take your phone and do the surgery on themselves; for you. Then after their perfectly awesome review you get your cup. Lol. It’s cool. Thanks for the free free drink.

Also, they are getting pretty skimpy with the protein choice.

I was really disappointed with my experience. I ordered nachos with chicken, and when the food arrived, the chicken was raw in multiple pieces. Raw chicken is a serious health and safety issue, and it completely ruined the meal. I brought it to the staff’s attention, but the situation should never have happened in the first place. I hope the restaurant improves its food handling and quality control, because this was unacceptable.

Manager is super rude I just came in to buy a gift card and some old lady was being extremely rude behind the counter and ofc she made some other guy named Johan check us out so her name wouldnt be on the receipt. I’m assuming shes the manager because she was inserting herself with customers should’ve asked for her name but I just wanted to get out of there. Hopefully she gets extra training on how to treat people, super unpleasant and unwelcoming atmosphere shes creating. other employees are great it was just her with a problem.

Update 7-9-23
Decided to give them another shot. Nothing has changed. I had a curbside order however no one ever came out after I let them know I was “here”. I walk in and the same employee that gave me attitude in the past was at the counter. (He is a young man, tall with black hair. ) When he greeted me he said “what” I replied with I have a curbside order. He gets my order and hands it to me and smirks. I can tell he recognized me and had the poorest attitude, once again. On top of that the piece of lettuce that was on top of my enchiladas was disgusting. Don’t spend your money here, they don’t deserve a dime.

Update: Cafe Rio responded to this review and asked me to email them to help resolve this issue however like another review they didn’t respond to my email. It looks like they want the illusion that they care and want to make it right to the review viewers however they could care less. This is exactly how the staff acts as well so it makes perfect sense that they didn’t communicate back. I will not be going back to this location nor while I ever recommend anyone else going.

You didn’t respond to my email however you had time to respond to the review to look like you actually care however that is a lie!
This is not how you treat people or run a business.

The food was good however the staff is an issue. They are rude and don’t make you feel welcome, for some reason have an attitude problem for no apparent reason. If you ask questions they act annoyed and want to rush you out of the line. This place is just a few minutes from my house which is convenient however the horrible customer service and blatant disrespect makes me not want to go back. It’s unfortunate. The last 3 times I’ve been here which have been in the last 2 weeks I experienced the same disrespectful employees. It’s hard to want to spend money at a restaurant with employees who clearly get annoyed right when you walk in the door. I’m sure they pick and choose who they want to have an attitude with which makes it even worse.
