Okay I love cafe Rio have been going for years now, but every so often the change and try out a new thing. This felt like they were trying to be cool-nonchalant version of Chipotle with new signs, and smaller sizes.
FOOD: Food was tasty and if you like sauce then you’ll love it here. Lots of it and great tasting. However portion sizes are smaller especially for the reflected cost I paid.
AREA: It’s clean in there. Kitchen, soda area, tables, and bathroom all clean. New menu sign feel tacky though.
WORKERS: Pretty chill, patient, and always working on something.
Why does it seem like instead of being an innovator they are now trying to follow Chipotle’s lead? I used to think Chipotle had no chance against Cafe Rio, now I find myself going there more often as they are next to each other.
I’m dissapointed in what once seemed to be a different kind of fast casual dining experience.
On top of that, the staff was clearly not on task. Multiple employees were on their phones, including the cashier, which is completely unacceptable in a customer-facing role. It gave the impression that no one cared about accuracy, efficiency, or customer service.
Overall, this location felt disorganized, inattentive, and unprofessional. I was not pleased at all and don’t plan on returning anytime soon.
Also, they are getting pretty skimpy with the protein choice.

Charge more, give less!
Decided to give them another shot. Nothing has changed. I had a curbside order however no one ever came out after I let them know I was “here”. I walk in and the same employee that gave me attitude in the past was at the counter. (He is a young man, tall with black hair. ) When he greeted me he said “what” I replied with I have a curbside order. He gets my order and hands it to me and smirks. I can tell he recognized me and had the poorest attitude, once again. On top of that the piece of lettuce that was on top of my enchiladas was disgusting. Don’t spend your money here, they don’t deserve a dime.
Update: Cafe Rio responded to this review and asked me to email them to help resolve this issue however like another review they didn’t respond to my email. It looks like they want the illusion that they care and want to make it right to the review viewers however they could care less. This is exactly how the staff acts as well so it makes perfect sense that they didn’t communicate back. I will not be going back to this location nor while I ever recommend anyone else going.

You didn’t respond to my email however you had time to respond to the review to look like you actually care however that is a lie!
This is not how you treat people or run a business.
The food was good however the staff is an issue. They are rude and don’t make you feel welcome, for some reason have an attitude problem for no apparent reason. If you ask questions they act annoyed and want to rush you out of the line. This place is just a few minutes from my house which is convenient however the horrible customer service and blatant disrespect makes me not want to go back. It’s unfortunate. The last 3 times I’ve been here which have been in the last 2 weeks I experienced the same disrespectful employees. It’s hard to want to spend money at a restaurant with employees who clearly get annoyed right when you walk in the door. I’m sure they pick and choose who they want to have an attitude with which makes it even worse.
