We arrived at 12PM. We ordered two plates, one brisket the other pulled pork. The brisket was a bit too dry, but to quote my wife “the sauce is the only thing saving it”.

To my tastes, the sauce was a sweet and tangy with a small amount of heat. Not my favorite, but not the worst sauce. It is a thin sauce, easy to pour from the Styrofoam cup it comes in.

The pulled pork was juicy and delicious, no problems with it. The bun started coming apart from the juiciness though… Better buns might help.

The fries could use more seasoning. Unfortunately the fries don’t add much to the taste combo when they are just fried potatoes with a few specks of seasoning…

The Mac N Cheese is delicious and creamy with some pepper in it. It stole the show. But if I wanted good Mac N Cheese, I can make that at home. I came for good meat and potatoes, and those could be better.

All in, it’s okay. If I was seeking the best BBQ in town, I’d keep looking from here.

Honey Bear’s BBQ has been a personal favorite of mine for over a decade, dating all the way back to when they were located in downtown Phoenix. It’s one of those places that leaves a lasting impression from the first bite, and after all these years, the quality has stayed just as high. When it comes to BBQ, they really know what they’re doing. The flavor is always rich, smoky, and well balanced, and the meat no matter what you order just falls apart effortlessly.

One of the standout things for me has always been how tender their BBQ meats are. Whether it’s brisket, pulled pork, or ribs, the texture is just right every time. There’s never any chewing struggle everything just melts in your mouth. That kind of consistency is rare these days, especially in spots that have been around this long. Their BBQ spicy sauce also adds the perfect touch without overpowering the natural flavors of the meat.

And the sides? Just as impressive. From their beans to the mac and cheese, everything complements the main dish perfectly. You can tell they put just as much care into the sides as they do the meats, which isn’t always the case at other BBQ joints. Every plate feels like a full, complete meal comfort food done right. You walk out full and satisfied without needing anything extra.

I also have to give major credit to their customer service. Every time I’ve visited, I’ve been greeted with a warm welcome and friendly service. Most recently, we decided to go on Father’s Day, fully expecting a long wait and a packed dining area. To our surprise, we were given the food in just 20 minutes, and the dining area was surprisingly relaxed. It made for an even better experience not rushed, not crowded, just good food in a comfortable setting.

Honey Bear’s BBQ continues to be a top-tier spot in Phoenix in my eyes. They’ve been doing it right for over 10 years, and I don’t see myself stopping any time soon. Between the quality of the food, the friendly staff, and the consistently great experiences, it’s a place that earns every return visit. Whether you’re a BBQ lover or just looking for a satisfying meal, you really can’t go wrong with Honey Bear’s.

I had a brisket sandwich and a bag of chips to go from this place, and boy was I disappointed when I opened up my bag.

First, my sandwich wasn’t even assembled. They had a small hamburger bun wrapped in aluminum foil separate from the meat. The meat was in a container. The bun wasn’t toasted, buttered, or warm; just a sorry, little dry bun. I had never had a deconstructed brisket sandwich before in my life!

Second, they don’t give you any onions or pickles with the sandwich, but they do give you BBQ sauce. The sandwich is more than $15, so they should at least give you more than meat, BBQ sauce, and a little dry hamburger bun. The sandwich definitely is not worth the price, and the meat-to-bun ratio was way off.

Third, I should have known that something wasn’t right when my order was ready within four minutes of placing it. There was no thought put into my order at all.

I know Phoenix isn’t known for BBQ, but good grief, this sandwich could have been much better. I do not recommend this place, and I definitely won’t be going back.

Pleasant experience overall, but I wish the brisket came out more tender. Otherwise delicious & great service! Get the Kool-aid for sure, reminds me of childhood!

This is one of the best BBQ joints in Arizona. The food is spectacular and the atmosphere makes you feel like you’re at home. The owner himself made my order and shook my hand after giving it to me. Never have I felt so respected and appreciated. I will always support mom and pop businesses and as proud Arizonans, all of you should as well.

I’m in town for a few days, and I always have to hit a BBQ joint. It had the hole in the wall look from the outside but very clean and nice on the inside. I had the brisket sandwich and seasoned fries. I’m not sure if it was cause I went on a Monday or it’s always that way, but it was the juiciest brisket sandwich I’ve had in some time. I definitely recommend it. My buddy got the pulled pork and chicken tenders. He said it was one of the best sandwiches he’s had. Their sauce that they make was good, too, and they give you plenty. It’s worth checking out if you’re in town.

For spending nearly 80$ after having to buy biscuits for the meal you’d think that they could warm up those biscuits and have it come with butter let alone bring it to the table after microwaving them…sheesh….a Lil extra effort and service please. The food was just alright, for driving from north Scottsdale to eat here. I was really disappointed. Bummed to leave this review too. I don’t like leaving bad reviews. Thank you.

When I drove by Honey Bear’s BBQ I was excited, thinking ooh finally some decent good BBQ food. Upon entering there where a couple of dine in patrons and 2 ahead of me in line. I look over the menu thinking their a little pricey but hopefully the food is worth it. It’s my turn to place my order the women didn’t seem like she wanted to be at work that day, no greeting or anything barely wanted to answer my questions she had this look like hurry up and order. Not very welcoming or inviting. I ordered the rib tip special with a side of corn, Mac n cheese and a slice of sweet potato pie. I wanted to another meat selection with my order but like I stated the woman wasn’t really with doing her job, at least with me. About 15 to 20mins later I received my order. It’s nice and hot, Mac n cheese rated 2 out ten by the kids, I give the rib tips a 4.5. They have phrase ” you don’t need teeth to eat our ribs” or something to that factor. In a sense you can get the job done with no teeth but the meat wasn’t falling off the bone. It tasted as if it was missing something. The sweet potato pie I also rate that a 4 that crust was soggy on the bottom and the favor was fully there overall it wasn’t worth the price. Just your average BBQ place!
