Hudson steak house based in Bath specialises in prime dry aged steaks, delicious starters with a fusion influence and some mouth watering classic dishes. Served in a relaxed stylish conversion of a notorious Victorian pub. Owner Richard Fenton decided to take on a run down, edge of town pub, and by specialising in well sourced and dry aged prime beef has created a destination restaurant that has won the best restaurant award from three different publications. The downstairs bar serves well crafted cocktails, an award winning wine list and the full menu under sparkling chandeliers. The upstairs grill room features an open kitchen and glowing Victorian fireplaces with views over the park.

We booked Hudson Steakhouse for our wedding anniversary.
We had a wonderful evening here, it’s an intimate restaurant with very attentive and friendly staff.
The steak was one of the best cooked steaks I’ve had – I opted for the 10oz sirloin. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Bath city centre, seeking a good steak.

Absolutely a must-visit! We went in the evening on Feb 20th, the staff were so attentive and welcoming, and the interior is gorgeous – low lighting, mirrors, gentle music. My partner and I had the ribeye steaks with fries and salads, and it was the best steak we’ve ever eaten. The side portions are generous, and we shared a sticky toffee pudding after which was homemade and just utterly delicious. The staff were so lovely, they need a mention again. My pinot noir was lovely, and the atmosphere was charming. Really would suggest you book here, especially as they’re not a chain – this place stood out to us as a premium experience. Many thanks for a lovely birthday treat.

Walk in no booking, Reception was awkward as he was making out he had no tables available and found it hard to smile.
However our waitress was fab and the food arrived quickly and was really good.

Lovely restaurant, really friendly and helpful staff, amazing steaks. Only tip I would give is that the sides are definitely more than one serving so don’t over order or you won’t have room for desert.

Nice food, okay service (tho they ignored us pointing out we couldn’t hear or talk at our table) but unbearable acoustics upstairs. One table of four enjoying a birthday meant not a single other table nearby could hear themselves talk. Was trying to celebrate a new job with a dinner for my hubby, atmosphere seemed great when we sat, then this table of four arrived and that was the last comfy word we could share. Not a single bit of soft furnishings upstairs to absorb any sound meant we had to endure their every thought, raucous laugh and sweary anecdote . They were noisy, in fairness, and even using video calls to people not with them, but they were out for fun and not dining in a library. We sat at 1840 and gave up by 1920 – we had planned dessert and cocktails but quit as soon as we’d wolfed down our steaks and ran – pointless trying to enjoy a romantic dinner in a rugby match crowd.

Would never usually take time out to write a less than amazing review. Booked a table here for the wife’s birthday, visiting from another area, walked in and the man with almost no hair behind the bar was rude straight away, asking if I’d booked a table as if I’d walked into his house uninvited. We had two female waitress who were absolutely lovely. Not a bad word to say. We decided to have a cocktail at the bar once we’d eaten to which I was completely ignored by the same barman for about 5 minutes, not even an offer of a drinks menu ( we were the only people at the bar) he was too busy tidying the bar area apparently. I finally managed to find a menu elsewhere and ordered our drinks. Asked if he was able to do a Limoncello Spirtz and was told no in a less than polite way and looked at like I was an idiot. A short while later I asked him where the toilet’s are and he responded “right there in-front of your face” the toilets were not obvious, it was a white door with no signage whatsoever and he made me feel incredibly daft for asking. Considering this meal cost us £200 I have cannot believe how rude this barman was. I got the impression he was the owner, and his whole aura unfortunately was obvious for the whole restaurant and made for a terrible atmosphere. I completely regret not confronting him but of course wanted my wife’s birthday meal to be a peaceful one so didn’t. Our evening at Hudson’s was ruined because of this. Would absolutely not recommend.

Friendly staff. The set menu is pretty good. Steak was not bad and the sides were top notch. The jus/gravy was to die for. House wine with the set menu was excellent, well chosen whoever was responsible. Quick service.

Just stunning, stunning service stunning food stunning everything, as always on it per our yearly/half yearly visit. This year we made a special occasion, my step daughter turned 12 and never gets the steak she requests in other restaurants, so why not bring her to our favourite, cooked with perfection as always, best steak she’s ever had, thank you for always being on your game
