Made the most of it, and it was ultimately worth it for the convenience and price, but I wouldn’t go back there…I’d drive somewhere else. The drinks were so so so bad. The food was mid. I got crab legs and they weren’t the best quality – think inland casino crab legs. The fries were their redeeming quality- so good I couldn’t give the place 2 stars. The service was also so disorganized and slow – even with very few people seated and lots of folks working. Which is all a bummer because this place has SO much potential… it’s beautiful, on the water, and a cute outdoor area with live (albeit very bad) music. Again, so much potential, and why I’m giving 3 stars instead of 2, but I wouldn’t go back unless they get better service, good, and drinks, but you could totally go enjoy a couple beers and look at the water and have a good time.

My family came here a few years ago and enjoyed it. I’m sad to write that our experience this year was very different. The atmosphere is still great, right on the boardwalk, great pirate items around the restaurant. The service and food however, was not that good and downright bad in some cases.
Starting out, our server was nice, but when asked, she couldn’t recommend anything on the menu. She only had 2 tables and wasn’t very responsive.
Now, the food. Seafood platter, broiled….so overcooked. Not just my dish, everyone’s seafood was tough and/or rubbery. The crab cake had celery in it and my wife kept thinking she was chewing shell because of the crunch. Sweet potato wedges are deep fried (unexpected) and also overcooked. The green beans were canned…and, you guessed it- overcooked. Some were burnt. The pizza was also burnt all over the crust and underside. I asked the server about the pizza as my kids only got down one slice each and she said that’s how they make it there. SMH. The chicken tenders were the highlight of our entire meal.
Worth noting – so, so, so many flies. We started outside and moved inside because the flies were out of control.
This was the most expensive meal of our visit and the least enjoyed.
EDITED following comment from management: I actually was going to ask to speak to management, but two gentlemen had come in to make a complaint to the manager about their to go order, directly near our table. After hearing how their similar concerns were treated we decided it was best to pay and leave. The manager was very dismissive of the customers’ complaints and didn’t offer any apologies. We appreciate the invite, but will not be returning.

Food was amazing! The views were gorgeous! Everything about this dinning experience was great! I took my mom here for her birthday and we genuinely had a great time! Something that I didn’t see before coming here was that they use heart healthy oils which is awesome! The food didn’t make me feel bloated or bad afterwords which was quite refreshing for dinning out somewhere! We walked down to the beach while we waited for our food which was really cool! We also went during sunset and sat on the deck which made for a really great atmosphere!

Place is so chill. Watching people enjoy the beach, kids swimming ‍♀️. Live music in the background. We all enjoyed the food, ambiance, and I had a great drink, called, “Rough Seas”. So enjoy Colonial beach, and this gem.

I was excited to drive to Colonial Beach and get some fresh seafood from the Richmond area. When I arrived around noon, the place had been open for about an hour, and there was no one there despite having a huge fest that was ongoing next door. I had a couple of drinks, but still no one decided to order the Rock Fish, Fries, and ColeSlaw. It’s not bad, but indeed not something I would even drive locally for. The tarter sauce was simply mayo.
I sat at the bar and the bartender was accommodating and nice, but I was super surprised even after I had eaten, only perhaps 1-2 couples came in; the place was empty with like four servers with little to nothing to do. Empty restaurants are showing signs of reputation, trust, and quality.

This place is amazing we ate here several times during our visit and loved it. I read some reviews on here saying they waited for 15 minutes to get service this place was packed every time we went so we kind of expected that. Also someone said they sat outside and there were flies have you never eaten outside before? I mean what did you expect it’s a restaurant right next to a river lol. Anyway the food here was awesome in my opinion. My son begged us every day to come back and try something different here. I would definitely recommend the crab imperial this is a dish you don’t really see that often and they make it perfectly. We will be coming back here.

Great ambiance and food. They have a wide variety of bands and some of them are truly excellent. The fun outdoor space in the sand is super fun, especially when they have a bonfire. Their indoor space is also great – very clean and with fun decor. I have ordered different food every time I’ve been here and I’ve enjoyed everything.

Met a group here to have dinner and watch the super blue moon rise over the Potomac. The food was great, but portions are small. The sauted scallops included six scallops of varying sizes and were cooked with peppers and onions. They were excellent. The sweet potato wedges were a side option but could have been a dessert. They were deliciously sweet–almost like a French toast stick. Considering the small number of patrons on a Thursday evening, I would have expected more attentive service for a party of our size. Although we lingered after the meal, no effort was made to remove dishes or clear the table for after dinner drinks or dessert. I guess the server was satisfied with the automatic 18% gratuity for parties of 6 or more and didn’t feel the need to work for anything. Their website also states that they charge a 3.9% processing fee if you pay with a credit card. The location is beautiful right on the river, and the view is wonderful. I would return again to see how a second visit goes.

Was here during Colonial Beach Bike Fest. Was a pleasant trip and the atmosphere was still welcoming. No wait when we arrived and the shrimp was delicious. Service was fast with just two bartenders and they were friendly and fun!

We had a great time here. It felt like we were the only ones there. We started off with some shirmp dip and chips. The food was wonderful, and the service was perfect. Thank you all.
