Our server Javier was very attentive. Service was very quick and our food took less than 15 minutes to get after ordering. Our house margaritas were huge and we were pleasantly surprised to see they were $8 each! Food was delicious and we will be back soon!

Edit: unfortunately we came with a larger group and had a very disappointing experience. Table wasn’t ready even though we had made a reservation and the restaurant was empty. Never got water and the server didn’t check on us at all. Not sure if this was just because gratuity was already added to our checks or what.

Coming to Cafe Ole back in the 90’s in high school was fun. We ordered virgin margaritas. Eat loads of chips and salsa and whatever tickled our teenage self back then. And then life took over and 25 years later, I’m back at Cafe Ole for a friend’s birthday. I can’t believe I haven’t been to this joint for 25 years.

I can say it kinda still looks the same. I remember bits and pieces of the venue but I don’t even remember what I did last week let alone many many many moons ago. I’m sure they have done some upkeep on the joint but to me, it still looks like my teenage years. Bright, festive and fun!

We were sat in the back room in a booth. It was nice and bright. Our server got drinks started for my 2 friends. I showed up last a usual so it took a minute for our server to get to me. Chips and salsa were already started. When our server finally got around to us again, I got myself a virgin mango margarita and some queso. One thing about Cafe Ole is their queso is worth the extra calories!

After eating what seemed like a ton of chips, queso, bean dip and salsa, we were stuffed!! The cheese pull on the queso is fantastic! It’s hot! It’s gooey! It’s cheesey! And what every chip in this world needs. The salsa was fresh and hearty. The bean dip was savory and creamy. It was hard not to polish all those chips off with that many dip options.

As full as I was, I didn’t want to not order something huge. We didn’t want to be those guests that share one thing. So, after going over the appetizer menu over and over again for something small, I decided on the beef taquitos.

I didn’t get a photo of the taquitos. They were actually the perfect size! They were smaller but they held a lot of shredded beef inside! It doesn’t come with any extra salsa or sauce so it asked for a side of sour cream. I also used the rest of our salsa as a dip for the taquitos too. You get 5 of them cut in half. I ate a half of one and couldn’t eat any more. But that one was good! Especially when the sour cream and salsa was added.

The birthday girl finished her dinner with a shot. I polished off my virgin margarita. I probably could have had two of those drinks! It was so good! Blended, tart and sweet. To make it that much better it was also on happy hour prices! Our server did a decent job. He did check up on us but would be gone for long periods of time.

Being here brought back so many fond memories of my young adult life. The fun I had here. It was great to come in tonight and celebrate my friend’s birthday. I’m going to have to come back soon for another round of happy hour! I can’t stay away too long from the nicely blended margarita!

We went there for the first time today. We went around two in the afternoon and the place was pretty quiet. The service was quick and professional. You do get a free basket of chips, salsa and refried beans when you sit down. My wife had the nacho which was a full size platter meal I had the Carnitas, which resulted in a total of four that you built yourself. The layout of the building is authentic Spanish feeling. At least the two dishes we had had a good quality flavor to them. The homemade chips, refried beans and salsa that are brought to you were excellent especially the chips which had a a light and tender crunch. If I lived here, I would probably go more often but it’s actually 3+ hours away from my house.

The fajitas were presented nicely, but there was not much seasoning on the chicken. We found the street tacos had the same problem. The guacamole had way too much lime, which made it too sour, and i couldn’t taste the avocado or anything else. I tried a few bites, but i did leave it, which isn’t like me at all. I LOVE guacamole, bummer. The restaurant was beautiful, with a lot of seating available. The waiter we had was pleasant and brought our food with a lot of flourish , but didn’t return too often to offer more drinks. Other than that, it was a nice lunch, but not enough for us to go back, since there are a lot of Mexican choices in Boise.

I have a guy here I think he’s upper management and he knows me by my name and always knows what I order when I come in, makes me feel super special. I come here a lot and love the chips and bean dip they give you to start. My son says the salsa is amazing too! I order like a toddler and I never get weird looks or comments which is nice. I’d definitely recommend coming to Cafe Ole!!!

Booo – Let the picture speak for itself. The chimichanga I ordered here was hard as a rock, completely lacked seasoning and was served with dry overcooked chicken. I’m sure they’re ordering food from Sysco that you boil in a bag or microwave and slap on a plate. This food here was the equivalent of a CBH home. Looking good on the outside but at the end of the day is left bland, disappointing and overpriced.

I ordered with DoorDash. I’m looking forward to eating there. La mA cho burrito es mas fina! Super yummy, tasty and good ingredients like whole beans, shredded beef. The chips are house made as I’m certain the salsa roja is. It’s the best red salsa you’ve ever had. Really good food here. Go eat there! ☺️

First, got sat at table (no wait time), then asked for a booth, hostess acted like that was a big deal and pointed to 2 tables that were dirty saying they needed cleaned up and we’d have to wait awhile (we said it’s OK, then not 1 min. later those same 2 booths were sat by a hostess). Secondly, we waited for our waitress for literally 20 min to even get water. Then, 23 min. later, she came to take our order (mind you, we knew what we were going to order before we even sat down). Food came about 15 min. later (food was just OK). Everyone we saw come in and sat after us, ordered, ate and left the restaurant, all before we even ordered our food. Waitress filled my Coke one time, but never came back after. Then, we waited so long for our waitress to come to give us our check, my wife and kids left and had to tell the front we still haven’t gotten it. When she finally came to give me my check (1 hour 10 min after we arrived), I just handed her my card cause I wanted to get out of there. I glanced at the check and it was for $25 more than we spend…I said “whoa whoa…that’s not our bill…” and she said “oops, that’s the table next to you…” So, I had to wait another 10 min to that corrected. Overall, we were there for 1 hour, 15 min. Horrible, aweful experience. We will never return there. The last time we visited this same restaurant, we had a negative experience also, but we thought we’d give it one more chance. Obviously, this is a systemic issue with this restaurant.

I just happened to stumble upon this gem of a restaurant and I wasn’t disappointed!! Exceptional decor that’s downright amazing! The service was top notch!! The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. There was a small problem with my order. My waitress handled it quickly and very satisfactory! I’ll be back for sure!
