Wednesdays are a hidden gem here because all bottles of wine are half off, making it even more of a treat!
The pizza was wonderful as always. Consistently delicious crust, great toppings, and cooked perfectly. We went with the sausage, mushroom, green pepper, and onion.
To top it all off, the service was absolutely impeccable. Attentive, quick and friendly!
This place doesn’t disappoint!
If you want to save a little bit of money, pay in cash :).
Photos have been added to illustrate some of the many examples of burnt or undercooked food received from Ricardo’s. To make matters worse, Ricardo’s knowingly packaged food in this condition for customers to pick up, rather than taking responsibility and remaking the food before the customer’s arrival. Unfortunately, when this issue is addressed at pickup, customers must wait for their order to be remade, causing other items in their order to become cold.
Regarding your comment about “fact checking”:
1. A gift card was issued because it took four follow-up phone calls over the course of a week to speak with someone about an unauthorized charge. During this call, other issues were discussed, including poor food quality and incomplete orders.
2. Ricardo’s has been informed of all issues as they arise. Your kitchen supervisor confirmed that the plastic found in the food was likely part of a package that was cut open, resulting in the cut-off piece ending up in the dish. Accidents happen; however, your comment reinforces the original review’s note about deflecting blame, and your accusation of slander is itself slanderous.
3. In discussions about ongoing issues, Ricardo’s management placed blame on the kitchen staff, employee age, and “employee turnover.” “Employee turnover” refers to the rate at which employees leave a company and are replaced.
4. This review is not just about an incomplete order (missing half of the ingredients) or ongoing order issues in general; it’s about how management handled the situation. The representative who initially took the call offered to refund the incomplete order and asked to place the call on hold for manager approval. When the manager picked up, they were rude and condescending, refusing to refund the order due to a “few missing ingredients,” again placing fault on the kitchen staff.
It is clear from this review and others that Ricardo’s has been consistently inconsistent lately, a fact that management has also previously acknowledged. The difference here lies in how prior issues were handled compared to this situation.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
Once a gem in Greendale, Ricardo’s Pizza has unfortunately transformed into a disappointing experience. While the staff may be friendly, frequent turnover has led to inconsistent food quality that raises significant concerns. Serious issues have been encountered, such as finding hair and plastic in meals, which call hygiene and safety into question. Many dishes have arrived incomplete or improperly cooked—some undercooked, while others are burnt beyond recognition.
Even more troubling is the management’s rude and dismissive attitude when concerns are raised. Instead of addressing complaints with respect and professionalism, there seems to be a tendency to make light of the issues and deflect blame. For a restaurant that charges premium prices, these problems are simply unacceptable.
For these reasons, I can no longer recommend Ricardo’s Pizza Greendale as I once did. It’s best to look elsewhere, as there are certainly better options that prioritize quality, accuracy, and customer care.
