Came here for the 1st time after hearing it was a local staple. I got conchas, elote, and pan de muerto. All was delicious. Bread is super soft and mildly sweet. Most elotes are dry stiff but this one soft to the touch. The cookies were moldy sweet and delicious. Seems like the bread is made fresh daily. Definitely coming back to try the tamales and breakfast
They have good amount of seating and the place is cozy

Their pan dulce is one of the best in town! The employees are attentive and fast. I recommend La Mascota Bakery to anyone who’s looking for good traditional Mexican pan dulce.

Come here every year, strictly for the Rosca and champurado! Bread is great for pairing with chocolate or champurado

Very nice historic spot in Boyle Heights. Glad I wanted to pick this spot over the other we were headed to. The ladies here are very nice and the sweet breads are all soft and beautifully made. I enjoyed the vegetable tamale and the concha’s plus the drinks e ordered. The ambience is nice and cute but I wonder how it felt and looked like before the change upgrade. History for sure. Soft concha’s , yummy horchata latte and definitely worth visits to come!

Some of the best tamales I’ve ever had. Had to wait in line for a little while but was worth it. It’s clean. Good selection of pastries as well. Staff was very helpful. Was my first time there. Definitely will go back.

Overall: 3/5 – Not bad, but not $100+ experience yet.
Tamales: 7/10 – decent flavor, needed more heat.
Bread: 7.5/10 – soft, fresh, and satisfying.
Menudo: a clear miss—bland, uninspired, zero depth.
We spent over $100, so expectations were higher. One staff member delivered 10/10 service—engaged and professional. The rest? Low energy. Could be an off day, but a team refresh wouldn’t hurt.
With a few tweaks, this place could absolutely shine. Would give it another try.

Baybeeee!!! When I tell you!!! The veggie tamales are what I live for at this bakery!!! Not once have they ever been dry or lacking. Good size and very juicy. Wrapped in corn husk. I’m from Chicago, so I love a wet tamale. If you prefer it to be dry, then call ahead and see if they can accommodate, but I promise if you enjoy it the way they make it, you’ll love it too! Not too salty. Great flavor and very filling. I normally buy 6 and freeze a few to have a healthy meal for lunch or snack. You will not be unhappy with the veggies tamales. They also have good sweet breads and I’m trying the choco-flan (will report back on that later). I always call ahead and do takeout.

First time eating here, I had a breakfast torta, queso tamal and piña tamal. My husband and I loved the taste and quality of the food. The drink, we got hot horchata latte, iced dulce de leche latte and it was delicious! Thank you to the server Giselle for helping us out this morning. Very kind! We love how clean and fresh the bakery smells. Great job to the owner and staff!
