I’m from Albuquerque, así… Good green chile. Sopapillas are legit. The burger w/ Hatch green chile was good and appropriately hot. Enchiladas were a bit too lasagna and cheesey, but not bad. All the portions were about 50% oversized, so maybe split something. Still, best take on NM food I’ve had out of state in a long time. Nice people.

We’ve been to The New Mexicans three times since April, and our experiences have been a mixed bag.

Our first visit was excellent—great service, great vibe, and food that actually reminded us of home in New Mexico. That first impression had us excited to come back. Unfortunately, the last two visits have fallen short.

Service has slowed noticeably. On both recent trips, it took forever just to get our drink orders taken, and when drinks finally arrived, they came out alongside our food. That might be forgivable if the food delivered, but sadly, it hasn’t.

The biggest letdown has been the flavor—or rather, the lack of it. The beans, pulled pork, and even the burger all tasted bland, with nothing standing out until I added green chile to bring some life to the dish. For a restaurant carrying the name The New Mexicans, the flavors should be bold, layered, and true to what makes New Mexican cuisine so unique.

That said, there are a couple bright spots: the margaritas are consistently strong and well-balanced, and the sopapillas have been perfect every time—warm, fluffy, and a highlight we genuinely look forward to.

As New Mexican natives, we were really hoping for a place we could keep coming back to, but right now it feels like the quality and consistency just aren’t there.

Food and service were on point. We were there with a big group and they took care of us wonderfully. I loved the huevos rancheros with the green sauce. Spiced well but not spicy. The mimosas hit the spot. We will be back.

We had been wanting to return here for quite some time, my wife had worked with one of the owners, and we always talk about going. This time it was just us, and we had an amazing Valentines Day lunch, amazing margaritas, spicy jalapeño on the pulled pork, and we decided to take home dessert when we found out our waitress was the dessert chef. Oh my goodness!! I had the best carrot cake of my life! I’m not a carrot cake fan, although this one won me over! We also got a cinnamon roll and heated it up and together wow! So glad we got them to go, typically we pass on dessert, at The New Mexicans, I’ll be back for Dessert and dinner to go! Ha! (The food is great too, don’t skip dessert here!)

It was my first visit here. We came in to order to go as it was 17 minutes untiI close. We were immediately greeted and seated after I explained we wanted to take our food to not keep them late. Here is where I met Evie. She told us to sit down and not worry about the time. We had amazing conversation, she made incredible drinks and made me and my husband feel like family. The food would have been the best part of the night had she not made me feel like family.

I could not recommend this restaurant more. The atmosphere 10/10. The drinks 10/10. The incredible service by Evie. 20/10.

I have loved this place forever. It’s a family owned place, who are always friendly and happy. Food is amazing! Like many have said, the smoked chicken enchiladas are mind blowing, but so is everything else. All the way down to the giant homemade cinnamon rolls. My favorite brunch spot around.

Where do I begin with this review? The drinks and the food were all amazing. We moved here from San Diego, thinking that SD has the best Mexican food. And boy oh boy we were wrong! The chips and salsa, the pulled pork sandwich, and Carne asada were all very good. Every bite was a burst of flavor. We love it here!
