Vishnu Ji Ki Rasoi is one of the good restaurants in the Bay Area. It offers a mix of Indian and Maharashtrian food. I wouldn’t say that every dish here is exceptional, but there are definitely a few that I would strongly recommend trying.

We were particularly interested in authentic Maharashtrian dishes, so we ordered Kothimbir Vadi, Sabudana Vada, Shev Bhaji, Misal, Vangyacha Bharit, Bhakri, Puran Poli, and the Sinhagad Thali.
Shev Bhaji, Misal, Kothimbir Vadi, and Sabudana Vada were good, but the Puran Poli could have been improved for better authenticity. We felt it had a thicker outer layer and less puran inside, so the taste didn’t feel traditionally balanced.

However, the Khandeshi Vangyacha Bharit and the Sinhagad Thali were amazing. The Sinhagad Thali came with perfectly blended Pithla, soft Jwarichi Bhakri, delicious Onion Bhaji, outstanding Thecha, and flavorful Panchratna Chutney. The Vangyacha Bharit was truly authentic and very satisfying.
Also, the service provided was excellent.

If I visit this restaurant again, it will definitely be for the Vangyacha Bharit and the Sinhagad Thali.

Glad I finally came here after driving past and considering it for so long. The service was friendly and prompt. The Bharli Vangi was beyond delicious. Bhindi masala also a good dish. While I enjoyed the mango lassi in the terracotta cup $5 for maybe 8oz left me unfulfilled. Hope to come again and try one of the combos.

A Flawless Inaugural Dining Experience

I had the distinct pleasure of dining at this restaurant on its very first day of opening, and the experience was truly exceptional. The quality of the cuisine was immediately apparent, as every dish tasted remarkably fresh and prepared without any preservatives.

The clear standout of the meal was the Kothimbir Wadi. I can confidently say this is the best I’ve encountered in the Bay Area—it was crisp, flavorful, and absolutely superb. For the main course, the rich and perfectly balanced Paneer Lababdaar curry is an absolute must-try recommendation that showcases the kitchen’s mastery.

To complete the meal, both the Kokum Sharbat and the Mango Lassi were delightful. They were served incredibly fresh and provided a vibrant, yummy finish. This restaurant has set an extraordinarily high bar right from day one.

I was here with my friend, who treated me to an amazing maharashtrian dining experience. Umesh, one of the owners of this restaurant was great right from the beginning when we entered the resturant. We were seated at the booth with menu and a special banarasi Mango lassi with cream. A banana leaf was placed and one by one dishes were served- papadam, Mango pickle, bhajiya, kothimbir vadi, sabudana vada, with thetcha, panchamrit which was so delicious we asked for a second round, matki usal, daal, roti, puri. Shrikhand, mixed vegetable curry, shaahi paneer, Mango rasmalai, banarasi pedha… everything was so delicious and home made dishes, was truly a time travel experience with an ambience that reminds you of the village from Maharashtra, the walls, the utensils, the wall pictures of Shivaji Maharaj and other dignitaries of India. We were so full but it was a worth every dish that we tried as it was all good and just like home cooked. I will highly recommend you for this experience.

Today I visited this place and had an amazing experience!
They serve hot, unlimited Maharashtrian thali, and everything was delicious. The staff literally brings you piping hot puris straight to your plate!
The management has changed recently, and it shows — the quality and taste have really gone up.
The thali was proper and fulfilling, starting with amazing appetizers like sabudana vada and kothimbir wadi — both full of flavor and perfectly cooked.
Highly recommend if you’re craving authentic Maharashtrian comfort food!

I ate here last Saturday night and consider it easily one of my favorite dining experiences in Sunnyvale and a great value. It’s clear the kitchen prepares every dish with love and pride in their cuisine.

The service was attentive, friendly, and incredibly helpful. Even if you aren’t familiar with the dish names, don’t let that stop you. Our server guided us through the menu, helping us choose a fantastic variety of dishes that we might not have picked on our own.

Dishes we enjoyed:
Sabudana Khichdi: To my American taste buds, it reminded me of uniquely flavorful tater tots—chewy, comforting, and delicious.

Saoji Veg Matka Biryani: This was the star of the show. It was my wife’s favorite biryani ever and full of flavor.

Paneer Pasanda & Paratha Paneer: Rich, creamy, and perfect for dipping the fresh breads (the Poori was also great).

Mango Lassi: Thick, flavorful, and served in a charming clay cup.

Everything is vegetarian, and the portions are very generous. If you are looking to step out of your comfort zone and try something beyond the standard Indian cuisine found elsewhere, this is the place. The food is delicious, the staff makes you feel like family, and we will definitely be back soon!
