The meat in the ramen was good. The broth is a little spicy. The flavor was pretty strong. Overall, I thought it was okay.
The burgers are unique. As a burger it was okay. The cubana burger my friend had looked good. I probably would have liked it more than mine. Decent size.
The food was freaking fantastic. We got a hamburger, the elote dog, fries, and cheese. I’m pretty damn sure the fries are hand cut too. Defiantly stop and give it a try.
When I went to the register to ask about it, they told me they call it a “combo,” but they charge everything separately. That makes no sense. A combo should include all the items listed for one price.
I am attaching proof of what I’m mentioning so you can clearly see how it is being advertised versus how it is charged.
This feels misleading and not transparent. Please be clear about your pricing so customers know what they’re actually paying for.
The hot dog Was very similar to Sonoran style hot dogs that I used to get Weekly in Tucson, Arizona. Their El Gordo Burger combo took the experience up another 10 levels. Homemade fries were hot and crispy, canned soda, cold, and refreshing.
I was completely blown away that I’ve driven by this place so many times but always missed the opportunity when I was hungry. Today’s experience was a pilgrimage if you will towards a better burger experience in the Minneapolis St. Paul area.
I really appreciated the kind and friendly service as well. The staff are really kind people, doing honest work. Give them a shot and let me know your thoughts.
Per my receipt, my order was placed at 6:39pm. Ordered the double burger combo, $21.45 after tax with fries and a pop. The guy working the counter (owner?) said it’d be 20-25 minutes for the food, and there was a 7 top waiting for their food still ahead of me. Only one other guy waiting for food when I walked in. OK, no biggie.
My food ended up coming out over 40 minutes later. The fries were definitely hand cut and looked amazing, but were luke warm at best, limp, and had zero seasoning on them. The napkin caddy at the table had salt, but no pepper. OK, rough start. Hopefully the burger was better?
The burger *looked* great. Unfortunately the bun was rock hard and was dry. The only extra food lube available besides the condiments on the bun were a handful of ketchup packets, and those weren’t enough to combat the dryness. The burger toppings were good at least, but the burger patties themselves were underwhelming.
Maybe they just had a bad night, but I was pretty disappointed in my experience. I doubt I’ll be back anytime soon…and that kills me because I grew up in the neighborhood and always try to support local.
Within a mile or so there are multiple other options for solid burgers (Buster’s on 28th, Carbone’s, Cedar Inn, etc.). Next time I have a hankering for a burger I’ll go to one of those tried and true spots instead.
