I love this place. Husband and wife owned & operated over 40+ years. Amazing sandwiches from Shish-Kabob sandwich, steak sandwich to burgers and Italian beefs. They make everything right in front of you cook to order everything comes fresh off the grill super hot juicy tender…mmmm…flavors are on point!! Hands down some of the best hand cut fries I’ve had in Chicago you’ll get a mountain of them with every sandwich you order, good shit! 100% recommend!

Truly a tasty no-frills experience. Everything was cooked to order and came out fast, hot, and fresh. The steak in the sandwich, cooked to medium, was flavorful and tender. Freshly cut fries were also great. However, the tomato and onion slices were way too thick and took away from the sandwich.

The food here is absolutely incredible. Do yourself a favor and get the shish-kabob. The employees are quick and direct, but also friendly, making the waiting experience efficient and pleasant. All in all, it only took 5 minutes to get my food during the lunch rush!

This spot is doing some magic.
Its this run down building with door that needs some touch to close properly.
Has like 2 tables.
Menu on this old board with RC sign, that seems it hasnt changed since 90’s. (RC is this generic copy version of cola)
There is no appealing side at all.
Yet, this steak sandwich is one of the best sandwich I have had! It can only be magic.
I thought this place was just another hyped local spot, but boy was I wrong.
Every bite of meat with that raw onion and tomato was unbelievable. It was just well seasoned meat cooked perfectly.
Steak sandwich was so good, I had to order shish kabob and eat it. It was also really good but I would stick with steak sandwich for sure.
I became a fan and I hope to return soon.

Nice family restaurant. Food is awesome. Steak Sanwich, and fries, my favorite. Also have burgers, ect. Small eating area, with a few tables. Owners are a husband, wife, and son. Very nice people. If you like french fries, they have the best in the area. One of my go to places, when I’m in the area for lunch….cash only….

Steak Shish-Kabobs Combo
Best fries I’ve ever had… and the perfect cheeky smirk when asked to switch into a fresh ketchup bottle
Looking forward to the chili cheese dog!

I got the steak sandwich with fries. Their fries have a good amount of salt and are tasty. Their sandwich’s are good, but they do place big pieces of tomato and onions so keep that in mind when ordering. It’s local and is usually quick.
Only downside is they only accept cash. This is unfortunate if you like to use Apple pay or credit/debit. Prices aren’t bad. Overall I eat here sometimes, would continue revisiting.

Simple. Flavorful. Slow. Stopped in this joint for lunch yesterday. Got a shishkabob sandwich. All sandwiches come with homemade (I think) fries. The bread was delicious and appeared like it was from a bakery. Sandwich came with good-sized pieces of grilled onion, tomato and a lemon wedge which was different.. There were a few people who were there before me however for the items they picked up, the service was quite slow. I suppose I can understand because it was only a woman taking orders and a man cooking. Regardless, I will go back for the sandwich. Meat was tender and the l cook put some kind of sauce over meat when it was done, which added flavor. He could of done away with the extra salt though.

If you haven’t had the pleasure of enjoying a sandwich and fresh cut fries from Mr. D’s you haven’t lived. Lived down the street in my teens and would frequent once a weak. 40 years later and many miles away I will deal with crap traffic just to get the steak sandwich with extra juice to satisfy my craving. I’ve tried a hundred restaurants since but not one establishment has even come close. The taste is original and will never be duplicated.
