Love this place every time I go. Sit down service comes fast- no bs. Servers check on you but not in the annoying way where you have your mouth full and keep getting asked how everything is- no, they make sure everything’s to expectations, let you eat, and check on you when your done. Perfect.
The nachos are my second favorite I’ve had, and I’ve had a LOT of nachos. Southern California, Texas, NM, AZ, this place rivals. Love the burritos, nachos, sopes, sopas, are all delicious. I just picked up a suizo burrito and nachos, it reminded me of living in Albuquerque during college. Love the big bar, and the staff are always friendly.

I ordered the Compadres Parrillada through DoorDash, and it was incredible. The food arrived hot, well-packed, and smelling amazing. The parrillada had a great mix of meats, all cooked perfectly.
Everything held up beautifully, and the portion size was definitely worth the price. If you’re craving authentic, flavorful Mexican food in/near the Madison area, this place does an amazing job. I’ll definitely be ordering the parrillada again!

Nice casual place with good food. It can get a little loud as the restaurant is mostly one room. The staff is friendly and there are always enough people working to accommodate.

Terrible restaurant. Moved back to Madison recently. Horrible customer service. I’m really unsure what people in Madison think Mexican food is but this isn’t it. The two times I went they made my order completely wrong. All I ordered was two tacos with tomato and cilantro and they couldn’t even get it right. No place in Madison is getting it right. Instead of putting tomatoes and cilantro on it they lined it up with piles of onions which I’m allergic to. This has happened three other places here. What part of onion and tomato has you confused? You gave me food that I can’t eat. I did not request anything fancy. It was literally tacos with tomatoes and cilantro. Twice in a row they got it wrong. I was completely nice and civil. I don’t know if Madison people just get drunk and they don’t know food or what’s happening but wow. Won’t be returning.

Great place to grab some lunch. The service was very fast and the server was professional and couteous. The restaurant was very clean especially the restrooms. The food was really good and reasonably priced with large portion size. There is available parking along the street out front. It is easy to find using Google Maps.

The restaurant looks nice and clean I ordered a carne asada dish to go. The portion was very small. The beans didn’t have any cheese on it and the rice looked old. The salad had some brown lettuce and the guac was literally brown. I got two medium size pieces of carne asada and lots of fried onions. The person who gave me my food was not very nice and didn’t respond to me when I say goodbye. Definitely not visiting this place again.

Finally a decent Mexican restaurant in WI, we are from TX and have tried few Mexican places around the Madison area that have failed miserably. After a lot of uncertainty and hesitance we decided to check out this place, however to our surprise the food was pretty decent. We loved the spicy salsa, the queso was a hard pass, however all the entrees were delicious. They do have a lot of options for vegetarians. The price was reasonable especially considering how expensive it is eat out around Madison. We will sure come back.

My husband and I stopped in for a late lunch, early dinner type meal. As a vegetarian, I appreciate the variety of options! I ended up trying a couple different things from the vegetarian menu and can’t wait to come back and try more. The jalapeño margarita was 10/10. The service was great as well!

Compadres is a fine Mexican restaurant with a good selection of well made Mexican American classics.
Tonight I had a pork carnitas burrito. It was a well sized burrito (not ginormous) and very tasty with generous carnitas meat inside.
Bruce had a steak nacho plate that was exceptionally good (and ginormous)
Margaritas (over ice or frozen) are large and tasty but not super strong tequila-wise.
Chips and salsa were plentiful and excellent.

The inside seating space is a bit dreary and dark, but also not loud…eg you can actually have a conversation without yelling.
Outside seating is awesome in the warm months!
