This + Hu-Dat is a must-try place in Rockport. We go every time we’re in the area. Everything we’ve tried has been stellar, from the pho, to the noodle dishes, to the gator, and calamari. Everything has been so good. The atmosphere is always lovely, the staff are always friendly, and the food comes out hot and fast. The prices are what you should expect for the quality and quantity of the food. The portions are large enough to feed 2 people most times. The calamari, fried gator, and the fried oysters are my favorites that I get every time. The pho is homemade and authentic, and has an incredible depth of flavor. The Happy Family is flavorful, chock full of meats and veggies. You can’t go wrong here.

A fun fusion restaurant. Seems to be busy all the time. A nice option between American bar food (burgers and sandwiches) and Asian cuisine.

Menu is huge with variety of choices and covers a wide range of cuisines. However, the speed that they serve you your food is unbelievable. It is SO SLOW when compared to the number of tables they have. If you don’t have the speed, don’t have this many tables! We waited more than an hour during not peak dining time. You are actually gonna be the benchwarmers warming up your own chair. There is also extra charge if you don’t pay in cash. The price is meh at best and really isn’t that compelling given the time you spend on waiting for your food to come out. Sure, there are multiple “WE ARE NOT A FAST FOOD RESTAURANT” signs, but this speed is slower than any fine dining ever. This restaurant isn’t fast, it’s barely faster than sloths if anything. If you don’t want to wait for an hour for somewhat decent food, would not recommend. Portion is alright, the fried rice tasted like steamed rice but just yellow in color. The egg roll was probably the best part about this entire dining experience. Seafood was alright, fried fish stood out the most.

Great food. We ordered from Hudat. Excellent lunch specials. Bar only serves beer and wine. Pricing for drinks is high. We won’t order drinks again. Food prices are very reasonable. Service was good. This is not a fast food place, but the food was well worth the wait.

Burger was hot and tasty. The ‘Happy Family’ entree was delicious and we had a very nice and attentive server. This is our first repeat meal at this establishment and we will come again.

OVERALL: My family and I dined here during a three-day vacation in Rockport at the end of the summer season. I enjoyed the meal, but half my family of four thought the food was too salty.

FOOD: The starters were excellent. The fried calamari was maybe the best I’ve ever had. Light crispy batter around fresh, tender squid. We also ordered fried pickles, which were outstanding. I went on a fried food binge and got the fried red fish with hush puppies and fries. The batter on the fish had some nice Cajun seasoning, and the fish was tender and flakey. The hush puppies were exceptional and the fries were crispy. My wife ordered the grilled red fish and could only eat half of it because the portions were so generous. She ordered the coleslaw as a side, and I shared my fries for a portion of her salad, which was creamy and fresh. My oldest daughter got the boneless wings and thought the chicken was a little tough, though the seasoning was spot on and ranch dressing had a nice touch of dill. My youngest daughter, a vegan, ordered the veggie lo mein and found it to be too salty. We all drank sweet tea and found it to be cloyingly sweet. It was served in disposable styrofoam cups, which was a drag.

SERVICE: Many reviews have complained about the long wait times, but our orders arrived quickly, though the place was packed. Our server was attentive and friendly. She was excellent.

ATMOSPHERE: A clean restaurant with a sports bar vibe. The Astros were on the big TV, and I enjoyed watching the game during the meal.

Great food at good prices. You have a choice of Vietnamese or Chinese dishes and your American Classics. Very delicious egg rolls. It’s also a sports bar with plenty of TVs throughout. Good service even when it was busy. We would definitely be coming back.

Ordered the Old Fashioned burger with house fries
Food arrive in a reasonable amount of time and was hot.
Burger was large and difficult to fit in my mouth around so good there.
Hamburger was properly cook and fairly moist.
Had a good flavor and the tomatoes, onion and lettuce were fresh.
House fries were decent tasting and the serving size was more than I could eat.
Wait staff checked on us several times and refilled my iced tea and provided extra lemons and pickles on request.
Overall I felt the food was acceptable and was a good value for the price and serving size.
Flavor was average to slightly better.
I ve had better burgers and plenty more that were much worse.
Food was good enough and the service better than average that I’d go back and try another item in the future.
