It is hot inside. The server was very friendly.
However, she kept asking that what I needed.
I already told her I was very full.
Maybe she forgot or got more tips for selling foods deliberately.
Her name was Ariel. But her serve was great.
You’re paying for the location and experience, so prices run a little higher than a typical bar & grill.
Pelican Pete’s isn’t just about the food — it’s about the experience. If you want cold drinks, lake views, live music, and a fun social vibe, it’s one of the best casual hangouts on Lake Lanier.
Sitting out on the lakefront to enjoy your meal is a great way to spend the afternoon. We were quickly seated where we were able to see the boats on the lake on the sunny afternoon day. Servers were quick and attentive and very cheerful.
For the food, don’t expect a gourmet dinner. You’re going to a tiki bar and grill. The key word is you’re going to have bar food. If you look at the menu, it’s the things you can expect to find at a bar and grill. Fish tacos, burgers, fish and chips, nachos, etc.
I’ve eaten here before and had the fish tacos, which were excellent the first time I had them. But, the second time, they weren’t quite as good, so this time, we chose a dock burger and grilled chicken sandwich.
The Great Dock Burger had caramelized onions that were delicious and gave it an umami sweetness to the double patties on the brioche bun. Makes a thick sandwich but not so thick that you can’t put it in your mouth. I would advise cutting it in half, which makes it easier to handle. The ample fries accompanying both dishes, as you can see from the picture. I wish there was an option to have a ketchup bottle since there was not enough for the generous fries. I used most of my first one for my burger. There’s an option to add bacon, I would advise adding the bacon that complement the flavor of the burger quite well.
The Grilled Chicken Sandwich was juicy and had great flavor with the accompanied bacon and avocado toppings. It said it was on a sourdough bread, but it seemed more like a Texas toast instead of sourdough. With that said, it was delicious and filling.
Overall, this is a chill place with a great view and good food. Take your time, unwind, and enjoy the day, as you watch the boats on the lake come into the harbor.
The winter hours or weekends only, so check the schedule before you go. And don’t forget trivia every Sunday night at 6 PM
The French Fries are outstanding. I ended up telling others that if they wanted Fries they need to order them, LOL.
Calamari, Shrimp PO Boy, Fish n Chips, Dock Burger, and Port Royale Burger were all enthusiastically endorsed!
