While the lunch menu is intentionally concise, it’s curated with impressive variety. Notably, the appetizers arrive in full, generous portions—hardly an afterthought. The Tso-style cauliflower was a standout: impeccably crisp with a golden crunch, balanced by a smooth avocado crema. The seasoning was bold yet restrained, allowing the flavors to shine without overwhelming the palate. A scattering of crumbled cheese added a clever, unexpected finish that worked beautifully.
The chicken tacos were equally well executed. Special requests were handled with precision and care, from omitting cilantro and scallions to ensuring the pico followed suit—a small but meaningful gesture that speaks volumes about the service. The grilled chicken was juicy, properly seasoned, and cooked to perfection. Fresh pico brought bright notes, with pineapple adding a subtle sweetness that popped against the savory elements. Finished with avocado crema, the dish was cohesive, vibrant, and deeply satisfying.
Max’s Tavern invites exploration beyond lunch. The dinner menu leans more upscale while maintaining approachability, and there’s no shortage of intrigue. Adding to the appeal is an indoor golf simulator housed in a separate room, making it an inspired choice for date nights or casual family outings.
The ambiance strikes a charming balance between classic pub and refined tavern. Vintage sports portraits line the walls, red leather banquettes offer comfort, and a striking stained-glass bar anchors the space with warmth and character.
In every sense, Max’s Tavern delivers—thoughtful food, attentive service, and an atmosphere that invites you to linger. A polished yet welcoming spot that easily earns five stars.
The decor takes you back a few decades with red leather seating, elevated booths, and classy chandeliers. Service was excellent, too and drinks to die for.
The Norwegian Salmon was perfectly crunchy on one side and juicy, and flavorful on the inside. It was nicely paired with the seasonal veggies and salsa verde.
My sushi-class tuna on the bed of cold noodles was just the right size and full of flavor, with a little bit of crunch from shredded carrots.
This was a first-class experience and we’ll definitely be back!
The atmosphere and the service is great!
