Ordered a chicken deluxe taco while we came to get some groceries from the store opposite to it and the food was delicious! We ordered a take out and took both the salsas as well with the order. The salsas were really good as well.

This is good food. Good service and quality ingredients. Great for dine in or take out including online orders. House made hot sauce, street tacos and massive burritos are the staple but they also offer typical quick Mexican dishes. Daily special and fresh salads and vegetarian options.

I came in for a quick bite with my wife because we were starving. We are new to the area and didn’t know what to expect. The second I walked in I got worried because it was all white people making Mexican food… lo and behold the burritos we were given were more than sub par. I do not understand how you can cook at a Mexican restaurant and not know how to properly distribute fillings in a burrito. All the proteins were at the top of mine AND my wife’s burritos. The flavor of said proteins was sub par at best, and would have been balanced better with the guacamole and pico de gallo that was all at the bottom of our burritos. Meaning not only was this not a good eating experience, but also the burritos are in no way splittable, as it’s a completely different experience on each end. Again I have no idea how you can even fail that poorly to make a burrito when you work at a Mexican restaurant.
Additionally they don’t bring you any water, it’s self serve (meh), the sign with the menu items is behind the staff taking your order, and if they are standing at the register you can’t even properly see the items listed.
No hate to the staff of course, but overall this was the worst burrito and burrito experience I have ever had, I do not recommend eating here.

Great good and location. Staff is very welcoming. Loved the vegan tacos we had. Sweet Potato one was the best. Service was very quick.
One star off for the flies around and very packed indoor seating area.
Still a must visit.

We found this place recently and absolutely love it. It’s now one of those places we have to stop every time we go down to the ferry. They have freshly made tortillas and unique, but traditional tacos. I would highly recommend checking them out. It’s a bummer I have to take a ferry to them but it is sure worth it.

Location: Great. Parking available and easy to spot.
Service: friendly. However, they don’t allow customers to use their restroom. There’s a portable potty outside and that is also the only area to wash your hands – inside the pp.
No table service but tacos are priced as if.
Food: ordered al pastor plate and potato with chorizo. Both were very well served, rich flavors and the salsas were good. However. One of the pastor tacos had a hair in it so we asked for a replacement.
Drinks: pineapple margaritas, were refreshing and not too strong.
We paid 50 dollars for 6 tacos and 2 drinks. Not the best value for the $.

This was my 2nd and my son’s 4th time to eat at Rocket Taco. The food has been good each time, service fast compared to other Whidbey Island eateries. I especIally love the sweet potato filling, but the basic bean dish is amazing – a hint of smokiness in a rich, red sauce. I’m on a strict medically-monitored diet and they kindly suggested the kid’s meal, which was perfect. I wish they offered more la carte items, such as one taco. My son loves the heftiness and taste of their beef burrtio.

Whidbey Island has its charms, but as far as food goes you stick to the basics.
Fortunately Rocket Taco opened up a restaurant in Freeland, and it is a pleasant surprise that stands out – an island of flavor in an ocean of basic.
To set expectations, it’s not a standout compared to Mexican in SoCal, or Texas, or Chicago, but it is above average for the PacNW, and makes a big impression on Whidbey.
I would not hesitate to recommend.

Delicious tacos in a small but cozy space. The vegetarian ones are fantatsic and full of flavor. The pico de gallo salsa is spot on but the other red one is smoky, more like a bbq sauce. All dishes are fresh and light. Helpful staff.
